This is the Big Meadow on the Skyline Drive. As you can tell, I’m still working on my black and white techniques to see if I can make a nice photo. Although it looks almost like a lake, it really grass. They do controlled burns throughout this area to keep the environment grass and not let it go back to forest. The Indians did this to let blueberries to grow.
That's a nice shot, but I would like to see it without the border. I find them to distract somewhat from the branch in the foreground. Just my opinion, I'm not too much of a photographer and I never messed around with b/w. Feel free to click on my link to see some vacation pictures from Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

I'm still working with the edges. You may be right in this case.
