Little Green Footballs has this post where the reference Reuters. So much for the idea the press doesn't have an agenda. This is in the first paragraph of the Reuters story.
NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - New Orleans began the gruesome task of collecting its thousands of dead on Sunday as the Bush administration tried to save face after its botched rescue plans left the city at the mercy of Hurricane Katrina.Posted by The Vorlon at September 4, 2005 7:50 PM
It'd be a better punchline if the saving face part of it weren't based in truth.
I'd prefer the President focus on the catastrophe at hand, rather than engage his critics right now. By engaging people on these issues, it can only take away from the real task at hand, which, for him, has to be about fixing the real problem, not playing politics.
Posted by: howard at September 4, 2005 9:19 PMI expect the Bush haters to take every opportunity to casigate him. I don't think there is anything he could have done that would have satisfied them.
Posted by: Ted at September 4, 2005 9:30 PMDon't be ridiculous. Reuters is just reporting the facts it has: It is a gruesome task collecting the dead. Rescue plans were botched else everyone would be safe. The Bush administration is trying to save face as they spent half the money marked for the flood defences on the Iraq war. You want to know who hates Bush - ask the poor in New Orleans.
