I feel like I should have something to say about Cheney’s hunting accident, but the only comment I can make is, I think the press is making too much about it. They’ve got their knickers in a knot because they weren’t told the very second it happened. It sounds like ego to me. It sounds to me like they feel it's all about them.
Every time I hear about an accident of this seriousness, I give thanks that I haven't made a mistake of that caliber.
Posted by The Vorlon at February 15, 2006 7:28 AMThe accident has been very overplayed in the media. It is a shame that it happened, but it was an accident. Hopefully the man that was shot will recover without problem. Of course, Cheney doesn't like the media and the feeling is mutual. They'll do anything to keep the pressure on. I quick announcement and press conference by Cheney, may have stopped some of the media frenzy.
Posted by: Reb Orrell at February 15, 2006 9:18 AMHaving pheasant hunted for a few years, I understand how accidents can happen. But, having said that, I have to comment on the fact that the hunting party was separated by about 30 yards. That should not have happened. There is a reason why you stay together and wait for each other. It cuts down on the risk of getting shot. As for the media, if Joe Doe had shot the guy, it would have been a one liner on the back page.
