I did pretty well today. Although I felt tired, I didn’t feel exhausted and I could walk quite a ways before I had to stop and catch my breath.
The Vorlon Wife and I went to two cemeteries so she could plant flowers on the graves of some of her relatives. We do this every year, but it’s been a bit late this year because of my physical condition. We figured today was as good as any as I’m getting chemo’d on Thursday and will be worthless for a while after that.
I buzzed with my weed whacker and dug holes for her to plant her flowers.
On the way, back we stopped at the Deptford Mall. We went into the Sports Authority to inspect a chaise lounge I’m thinking of putting in my office. I figure with that with a blankey and a pillow; I can lie down and take a nap, if I need to.
Alas, although the chaise lounge I looked at was OK, I have seen it cheaper in Lowe’s online.
That took all of five minutes. Then the Vorlon Wife wanted to look at some workout clothes. She spent about 20 minutes looking and we purchased nothing. I think I’ve been down that road before.
I’ve attached a photo from last night. Part way through posting it, I noticed what I missed while taking it. My and the Vorlon Wife’s shadow. Groan.
Well, I thought I’d post it as a lesson to my readers. Double-check your shadow.
UPDATE: A friend downloaded and edited my photo. Here are the results of his efforts.
I had to laugh when I read about the difference in your shopping styles. Sounds way too familiar. Men know what they want to look for on the shopping trip. They go directly to it, either purchase it, or, as you did Ted, decide it isn't what you want to purchase that day. They are DONE shopping. EXIT. While on the other hand, we ladies are shopping from the moment we enter the store, glancing to the right and to the left - there is always the possibility of a good buy - that outfit you can't live without or something completely new that we hadn't even thought of! We look, we touch, we hold it up to our bodies, envision how we might look in this "too die for" outfit - and then we put it back on the shelf and move on to the next awesome item awaiting our perusal. So goes the phrase - "Women are from Venus - Men are from Mars". Dave & I very seldom go to the mall together. We have found it just makes for a better day (if you know what I mean.)
Ted, you have undoubtedly had the opportunity to view the magazine called "Cure". It has cancer updates, research & education articles that are very well done (most of the time). The Summer issue 2006, has a very interesting article entitled "Running on Empty" on page 56. It is about Neutropenia, the shortage of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell that protects against infection. It is about Neupogen, the drug you have been using to boost your white cell count. I found it to be very interesting, and I think you would also. If you don't receive this magazine through the mail, perhaps you could view a copy at your oncologist's office. I'm not sure if the magazine is one you can purchase at a magazine stand or not. I would be more than happy to enter a subscription for you if you'd like to receive this information. I think it's a quarterly magazine. There are other articles that have been helpful to me, and I'm assuming there would be for you too. I'm not quite sure how I became a recipient of it, but I have never been billed, and so, as I say, if you would like me to order you a subscription, I will be more than happy to do this. Let me know.
Good luck on your next treatment. Wish you didn't have to endure it, but on the other hand, I'm thankful the opportunity is there for you, because it is going to make you better. We know it. God Bless You Both. Ruth
Ted, The photo can be cropped nicely, removing your shadows. I played around with it a bit, then colorized it a little, and added a little starburst with very long rays. I'll email it to you.
