Doggie Update

I received a response from the people with Perry, the dog.

I just printed out your application you submitted to Society Waggers, I will give ya'll a call tomorrow or after ya'll get home from work. Perry is a great little dog. Adoption $385 which includes his neuter, rabies shot, 7/1 shot, heartworm test which was negative and bordetella which is for kennel cough prevention and also Perry will have a bath when adopted too, he is clean now but always give them a bath before they go to their forever home. Perry is ready to go, he needs nothing done except to get him started on heartworm prevention each month, by the way I think Perry would love to be able to get to go to work with Carol. He is a very personable dog and would love nothing more but to be by your side.

Both the Vorlon Wife and I thought that was a little pricey. On the plus side, he seems ready to go. He almost has batteries included. Although I would crate him for a few nights, just to be sure the new environment doesn't lead to an accident.

Over the weekend we bought this at the recently open Target store. It's pretty cool. It comes in a package about three inches thick and a foot in diameter. When you take it out it expands into a kennel about two feet long, 18 inches wide and 18 inches tall.

I would agree with you both. That sounds quite steep. We have four dogs (all strays), and though I don't know for certain, I'm thinking most of those things could be done at regular cost for less than that price, and generally rescue type organizations get breaks on them, making it seem even higher.

It of course depends on how attached you have become to Perry, but that price sounds simply outrageous. I'd personally go elsewhere - it sounds like this person/group is more in it for the money than for the dog, which isn't to say it's bad, just that it is what it is.

If you're interested in a medium-sized (~35 pounds) dog, our newest addition has a great personality, and she'd love to keep you company. She's fully trained (though she needs some reminders, as she's been outside for a bit), fixed, up to date on shots and everything. We just don't have the room for her - and our others are (were) all males.

Of course, getting her from here to there may be an issue - but hey, it never hurts to mention it. :)

Ted

He is a cute little guy and would make you guy very happy as he sounds very personable. The money may be higher then you expected but you would probably spend that on a computer so what is the difference? Go for it!!!!!!!!!!

May the Good Lorod Bless you

Perry looks wonderful. As a comparison I took my dog to the vets for his annual vaccinations (just 2, didn't include rabies which isn't due yet), heartworm check (blood test) and heartworm preventative and it cost $187. All depends how you like him when you meet him but you could probably easily spend the price they are asking for getting all the various things done w/o even considering the time involved to do it all. It may seem like a lot initially but they've taken care of everything for you. Hope it all works out! Dogs are great companions.

Three years ago, we adopted an elderly cat with diabetes and asthma. We knew he was sickly but we love him sooooo much and the joy he brings us is priceless. One look at your little Perry's face and he seems worth every penny.

Hey Bro!

Love doesn't come cheap! Our "freebie" cat (stray) who adopted our family, ended up costing us easily $200 up front. That's for her intial check up, feline leukema testing, basic shots, worming, & fea control. Then it was back to the vet (when we decided that she was going to stay) to be spaied & declawed on the front.

But the least this organization could do, would be to let you visit first. But Perry would be my choice over Pete. Perry looks adorable and very loving. Which is just what you need right now. Something warm fuzzy, with a pink, wet tongue, to curl up next to you. AND I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT KAROL EITHER!!!
