The Vorlon Wife and I visited two animal shelters yesterday. In one shelter, we saw no dogs we wanted. At the second shelter, we saw this little guy.
To my surprise, they put a leash on him and let us take him out. The little guy was terrified. The staff member held him and you could see the little guy just shake. I tried to pet him, and he took a little snap at me. But after a few minutes, he settled down and both the Vorlon Wife and I were able to pet him.
The Vorlon Wife took his leash and he walked along beside her like it he did it every day. He didn’t tug or pull, he just walked by her side doing his little doggie trot.
The shelter calls him a medium size dog. He is a SMALL dog, quite small.
He was brought into the shelter as a stray last Thursday. The shelter cannot do anything until next Thursday. Stays that are brought into the shelter are given one week for their owners to claim them.
We filled out the paperwork to adopt him, when he becomes available.
I felt sorry we had to leave him, as he is so frightened. I’m really sorry I didn’t take a photo of him. I had the camera in the car and completely forget to get it and take a better photo than what you see on the net.
A small request: If we get him, he’ll need a name. My brain is coming up blank for a good name. Any suggestions?

Hi. I told Karol I was going to tell you about our new puppy. I'm glad you found a dog already. It looks a little like ours. We never had a dog before, so was surprised how it changed our environment here. But in a positive way. It seems that everyone likes dogs and dogs like everyone. We have a Bichon and it is about 4.5 months, we got him Aug 5th. Our dog bits a lot yet too, but he is getting better. We took him to classess, he graduates this Thursday from Kindergarten. He has learned quite a bit in 6 weeks. I know you will enjoy your new pet.

I know you did not want to leave him there!!!! You will enjoy him so much. Karol will be taking him on her walks each night. I was hoping you would be feeling better soon. Scott was here today and said he saw you and your wife in Shoprite the other day or yesterday. He said to say hello. He is not sure if you would remember him from the Office. I guess Thursday will not come soon enough.
I feel very bad for Reb because now he is left to take care of everything. I remember the 3 years I spent taking care of my Grandfather (who raised me from 2yr old) in his last few years. I was a 24hr a day nurse/dietian/care giver. I do not regret a day of taking care of him.
Please take care and may the good Lord be with you.

Posted by: Doris Bertolino at October 23, 2006 1:28 PMDear Ted & Karol, I hope everything works out well for you to get the sweet little guy you looked at and would like to take home with you. I'm sure it was very hard to leave him because he seemed frightened. If he comes to live with you guys, he will think he's the luckiest dog in the world. Something tells me you will treat him like the little doggie king that he deserves to be. I was trying to think of a name or two, but I don't think I'm too creative. I thought of one name though that is a combo of both of your names, maybe it sounds too girlie. "TEKA". Or maybe even "JERSEY".
I'll be anxious to hear if everything works out. Surely hope so. My best to both of you, as always. Ruth
What a sweetheart he is...he does look lonely and scared even in the picture.
As to a name...how about an adaptation of Vorlon...Vor...... Lonny!
