I wanted to sleep in but Danny was ready to get up at 6:30. It was a busy day today. I walked Danny. I did two loads of wash, went to CVS, I was rather annoyed when the pharmacist said the Doctor had increased my dosage. He did not even let me know. Now being Saturday, I can’t contact him until Monday and I need the medication for the nerve damage done by the shingles. This is a new doctor who is a partner to my regular doctor. They gave me him with out telling me. I had to go over my whole history. The other doctor was familiar with my case and I was rather annoyed with the switch. Increasing the dosage means increasing the side effects. What a jerk. I left CVS fuming and went to the grocery store.

I had some breakfast and went to get two more flats of impatiens. Next, I cut the grass and started the sprinkler. After cooling down and having some lunch, I went to the video store and got "Pirates of The Caribbean, Dead Man’s Chest" and went to the dry cleaners and Family Dollar. When I got back, I finished planting the impatiens in the back yard. It was very hot out there even in the shade. I cooled down again with some iced tea and took Danny for his walk. I fed him and made myself a big salad using my spinach and arugala. I got some grape tomatoes when I was at the store and added some cheese and corn and topped it with Thousand Island Dressing.

I took Danny with me to the custard stand and got a strawberry Artic Swirl. When we got back, I put some in Danny’s bowl and popped in my movie. I am somewhat disappointed in the Video store. Almost every movie is filled with blue screen. I guess they are handled by children and have fingerprints all over them. I was beginning to think it was my player but new movies work fine.

I will walk Danny, do his ears and then will be off to bed.

Hi Karol,

Both my husband and I were reassigned to a new doctor that was partnered with our origial doctor. I went to the office and strongly requested that we be placed with our original doctor. They complied without any problem. So, if I were you, I would certainly try this. Being familiar with, and trusting your doctor is so important. Probably some of the patients move to the new doctor without any problem, and the office has accomplished what it needed to do - eliminate such a heavy caseload for the original doctor. And, indeed, they may need to do that, but, I firmly believe that if you make a special request to be moved back, it will happen for you. Good luck with this Karol. Let us know on your blog if you were able to accomplish this.

Another nice fringe benefit to your job is the fresh veggies you get. That saves you some money at the grocery store.

Your yard must be a beautiful sight with all the flowers you plant. I remember thinking about that when Ted used to tell about how many flowers you planted. The world needs all the beauty it can get. And, you surely do your part. In fact, I have no idea how you get everything done each day. You're good - very good.

It is raining here for about a minute at a time. It just pours and then it completely stops. Then, it starts all over again in a short while. It's probably spoiling a lot of camping and picnic plans. Just about the time they get everything all packed up, the rain stops very suddenly. A weird sort of day.

We went to a surprise retirement party last evening for a friend. Oh boy, was she ever surprised. She thought she was going for a boat ride, so she came dressed in a very casual outfit. She handled it well though and didn't seem to mind that she was dressed quite a bit different than those of us who knew in advance where we were going. I admired her poise in handling the situation so beautifully. It was fun to watch her face when she came into the room to see so many friends and family there to celebrate her.

And, thank you so kindly Karol for your dear note. I so appreciated it, as I always appreciate you. Ruth

If these are VCR tapes you are talking about and the video keeps fading to a blue screen it could mean the video store rented you an illegal copy of the original movie, or the tape is so bad that the signal has faded.

You can also get that effect on DVD's if a poor quality analog device was used to make the copy off a DVD player. Or a combination of poor dvd copy and routing the video through your VCR. If these are DVD's it is usually easy to tell if they are copies because the data side (non-label) of the disc will not be silver like with a stamped disc.

The effect you are describing sounds like Macrovision protection kicking in. Personally, if the video quality is crappy (Macrovision or not), I would take it back and insist on either a refund or a free rental of the same movie with a better copy.

And if they give you any grief you could mention that the blue screen effect is indicative of an illegal copy and the MPAA would certainly love to hear your complaint if they won't give you any satisfaction.

Just my 2c :)
