Prickly Pear Cactus in Bloom

cactus061508.jpg

Today, I took some documents to my accountant and headed to the bank to close out the company account. One-step closer to closing down the company and another thing crossed off my list. I then went to my former office building to make copies of documents the accountant will need to close the business. I talked with Ann for a while. Both of her parents are having health problems. I popped in to say Hello to two of the men who work in the office building. We all used to have lunch together.

I packed up some of my family photos I had on the walls and on my tables. I am getting the house ready to put on the market.

I also did some weeding on the east side and some along the front. Crab grass is growing in the front along with soiza grass and another variety. A lot of clover. It went pretty fast. I had watered earlier in the day so the soil was still damp.

I heated up a chicken leg for dinner. I haven’t had meat for over a week and I’m tired of this illness. It’s time to move on. I also cooked up some fresh beets I had bought before I got sick. I enjoyed my dinner. I hope it doesn’t come back to haunt me. The doctor wasn’t in today and neither were my results from the tests. They said to call back tomorrow afternoon. I am anxious to find out whether I have to be concerned about anything.

Good morning Karol, I so hope your test results turn out good. Or, even better that they showed that some small thing may be bothering you and that it can be easily remidied. I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Isn't it interesting that the prickly castus looks so prickly and yet it produces such lovely flowers. It reminds me of some people that look a little prickly on the outside and we might just pre-judge. They might not look too good on the outside, but, they most likely have some beautiful part of them that shines. I will share a quick story to show my reason for that conclusion. I was headed into one of the mall entrances. And, since I am now handicapped and always use a walker, I make it a point to check my surroundings before proceeding. On this day, there happened to be several people sitting outside that entrance area and I noticed one particular man watching every move I was making. As I was already partly to the entrance, I continued, but I drew my purse a little closer and tried to look confident. He just kept watching. If the other people hadn't been around, I might easily have turned back to my van. However, as I neared, this particular, rather thorny looking man, stepped away from the others. My heart began racing a bit quicker. And, what a beautiful gift I received. He said "let me get these doors for you, they can be hard to open when you have a walker". Can you imagine my pure joy at this fine gentleman doing this beautiful deed for me? He did look a little thorny, but he did indeed have beautiful flowers too. A lesson learned - try very hard not to pre-judge. But, we still need to always be cautious too. I'll never forget that moment because I felt frightened by his appearance and he was the only one of the crowd that recognized my situation and stepped up to help me. I call those folks beautiful flowers.

I am looking forward to learning of your test results and so hope you begin to feel better very soon my dear. Love, Ruth

Hi Karol

Sorry to hear you are going thru pain & suffering. I know that the illness can be very painful. I hope if the test comes back positive that it is a very mild case! Your flowers are beautiful. When did you stop working at the job with the exciting computer program? I guess I did not go back far enough to get the gist of what is going on. Also I want to thank Ruth for her concern with my broken shoulder.
Ruth I know what you mean as far a people look at WaWa as I approach the door the people that you think would not hold the door for you are the ones that do. (me and my cane) Every day I get suprised by these people. Karol I wish you good luck with the test results and I will say a prayer for you to get well.

Love your blog friend
Doris
