Friday Flower Blogging

myrtle.jpg

Crape Myrtle Tree at a neighbor's house in Vineland. These are beautiful trees that bloom from the end of June through September. There are pale pink Myrtles in the Mobile Home Park. I wanted to get one but they are $70.00 for a small one.

It is another hot day. I thought I would trim the weeds early this morning but waited until 9am because I know both neighbors are late sleepers. It was sweltering out there. The sweat just poured off me stinging my eyes and drenching my clothes. Fortunately, I ran out of line and forgot to bring more. I jumped right into the shower even though I just has one before I went to bed. The forecast is upper nineties and tomorrow 100+. I need to go to the store but it's too hot to go out. The car is parked in the sun so it must be blazing hot. Maybe I'll do some of my sewing projects. After lunch, I just reclined on my air mattress. I use it as a chaise lounge to watch TV online. There's supposed to be thunderstorms this afternoon. I guess they won't cool things off if it's going to 100 tomorrow. I may just read my book.

Hi Karol,

I just LOVED the Crepe Myrtle Tree. I don't think I've ever heard of them. The tree has blossoms for a good long time, so it might be worth the investment because you would get to enjoy it a long time. Someday, when you feel like splurging on something a little special, then maybe you'll get one. I know you would really enjoy it.

We feel like today is the hottest day yet. When we open the back door, it just makes you catch your breath because of the heat and humidity. Dave has gone out a couple of times, but, mostly we've been inside. The road crew was putting down blacktop earlier today and we were thinking how hot that job must be. Last evening, there was a report that a tornado had touched down at our local airport, so we headed to our underground tornado shelter. The clouds were just roiling in strange patterns and it looked for all the world like they would surely form funnel couds. Thankfully, we were spared and nobody was harmed. It is once again thundering quite loudly again, so we'll have to keep listening to the weather reports. There is a tornado siren, but, we don't seem to be able to hear it in our park. Our daughter-in-law called us to alert us yesterday. She's very aware of us being in a mobile home when the storms get really bad. And, we appreciate her thinking of us.

Well, stay inside and keep as cool as you can. And, enjoy the coming weekend. We're having a concert at our church tomorrow night and we've heard the group is very good, so we're looking forward to that. Love, Ruth

The Crepe Myrtle is a southern spieces. We are at the northern edge of where it grows. I just saw some small ones on sale at Home Depot for $15.00. I have never seen them below $50.00. I won't be able to get one until I get moved in as I may not be here to water it. I hope I get moved in soon.
