The thermometer on the east side reads 1 degree and on the west side, it read -1 degree. So the average is zero. It was a cold walk with Sparky this morning. I felt sorry for the high school kids. They just don't have the warm clothes for this weather. Plus the fact that they go out with no hats or gloves. They wear sweatshirts instead of coats or a short coat. The other day, one kid was wearing shorts. The younger kids parents drive them up to the bus stop which is across the street from my house. They park all over the place including across my driveway. I have to wait until the bus comes if I want to get out. I don't mind. I don't have to get out that often when they're there.
Food prices will probably be up. The cold extends way down south. I guess we can forget Louisiana strawberries and maybe Florida strawberries and oranges. California is having a drought so we can forget produce from there.
There will be no exercise class today. We decided if it was below 20 degrees out then we wouldn't come. The church will be too cold.

Posted by tedkarol at January 30, 2014 7:38 AMIn the low 80's today in the Rio Grande Valley. However on Wednesday we woke to ice on the trees. Does not seem to have affect the orange or grapefruits. Can't beat the citrus down here.
