Remembering my grandmother on the 125th anniversary of her birthday. I remember walking to the train station when I was a kid. We would take to train to Grandmom's to celebrate her birthday. Sometimes, the magnolias would be blooming but not this year. I did see my friend's forsythia starting to bloom.
I went to exercise class this morning. I felt tired. I always do when the time changes. From there, I went to the Acme Super Market. They had chicken on sale for $.99/lb. I got two packs to bake and freeze. I next went to the pet store to get Sparky some food and dental bones.
I stopped at my friend, Joan's greenhouse, to get some hardy primroses. Most looked past their prime but I did find two purple ones that looked nice. It's hard for the greenhouse to know when the right time will be for the plants. It has been too cold to plant them outside. I set them out on the ground but will have to keep a watch on the forecast in case I have to bring them in.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Hi Karol, Today is the first day of spring, and our front yard looks like all that snow could never melt. We are having some thawing going on, but, the snow piles are so high, it seems they will never melt, but, they will. Actually, with so much snow, we're hoping the melting doesn't happen too fast, so there won't be flooding issues next. What a winter it has been. We are all just praying that we won't see anymore snow.
Dave an I took advantage of a decent day and drove to Kalamazoo to do a little shopping and then to one of our favorite restaurants and enjoyed a delicious meal. It felt like quite a treat to be able to safely drive more than a few miles from our home. There have been some horrendous accidents on I-94 this year, as there have been on many other busy highways. One vehicle begins sliding and then 20 or 30 cars and trucks slide into the one ahead. There have been quite a few deaths because of this. Nasty business!! It sure makes us wonder what summer is going to bring. Will it be excessively warm or maybe colder than normal? Guess we'll take whatever we get
Glad you're doing okay. Dave has done a little better with his breathing this winter. He used his oxygen 24 hrs. each day for several months and is trying to use a bit less if he can. And, I'm doing quite well myself. So thankful for good days.
I send my love and hope before too long, we'll begin to see you posting some spring flowers. Yeah!! Ruth
