This is my grand aunt Fannie with my brother, Rick. The photo was taken around 1937 at Aunt Fannies farm. Most of my youth was spent at the farm every Memorial Day, Forth of July and Labor Day. Aunt Fannie invited all her brothers and sisters and their families. They stopped during WWII when all the young men were away. They resumed after the war. Everyone would bring their favorite dish and we all enjoyed the good food and spending time with family. We never had to wonder what we were going to do as we always went to the farm. We played softball and quoits and hide and seek. We went hiking and swimming. I miss the good old times and my family who has passed away. I spent today alone. I think it was the first Forth of July I spent alone. it's a bummer. It was a cloudy, rainy day which made it seem more dreary.
