I went to my new job today. It was more of an orientation interview. I start on Wednesday. The office manager needs to clear up some of her work before she will be able to train me.
I talked with the Supervisor also. He took me through the warehouse. They provide boxes for produce. They have a lot of farmers as clients.
I was going to use the weed whacker but it needed charging. I watered my plants, did some laundry and fixed my sofa. The arm was weak and someone picked it up by the weak arm and broke it. I glued yesterday and used some C clamps to hold it in place. I left the drill out yesterday so I could work on it today. I put a couple steel brackets on the sides of the arms. It seems to be strong and sturdy. The bracket is hidden by the pillow and the other side of the arm is not visible unless you bend down over the side.
I decided to miter the molding. I cut one end but need to re-measure so I can do the other end and then I’ll do the sides.
I tried to pay my car insurance online but they had to get back to me because they had to process the dropping of Dasher 1. I didn’t hear from them and I realized they had my old email address. I went in and changed it but didn’t have the information with me so I’ll have to pay it tomorrow.
Danny is ready for bed and so am I.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Danny kept waking me up all night shaking his ears. The new medicine seems to not agree with him. I don’t think he likes the liquid in his ears.
We went out at 1:30 am to do some business. I was surprised to see how many houses had their lights on and the house across the street had three TV on in three different rooms with some music blaring in another room.
I took Danny out again at 6:30. I went over to CVS to get my L-Lysine. It helps with the nerve damage from my shingles and it also helps to prevent fever blisters. I got a cappuccino and came home. I fed the fish, Danny and myself. I ironed my clothes for church and got myself ready. I had to take the refreshments today so I went a little early. Linda came and we set things up and started the coffee. There was no choir today as the director was sick Thursday and we had no practice.
Several people invited me to lunch but I had a lot to do so I came home. I took Danny out for his walk. I wasn’t feeling hungry so I had a yogurt and some goodies I brought back from the church.
I moved the desk back into place in the computer room. I had moved some furniture to make room to install the air conditioners. I went through my closet and selected the clothes I would be wearing to work next week. I had to grab some summer blouses out of the other closet. It’s that time of year to make the changeover from winter to summer clothes. I ironed the clothes that needed it. Then I sat down for awhile. I kept thinking of Ted’s grass that needed cutting. Alex wasn’t home and neither was Peter. I need one of them to start the mower up for me. Around 3:30 I saw that Peter was home so I called him and he started the mower for me. It took about an hour to cut the grass. It was thick and somewhat wet.
I ate dinner early. I had pot roast left over from the restaurant last night. I put a red potato in the microwave and had some corn. I also had some green beans that came from the restaurant. I called my sister-in-law as she and my brother, Rick, are going to Florida next week. Sylvia’s niece is getting married. Tina and Sean are also going from my family. I don’t know about Cheryl and Ed. Rick and Bob have to work so are unable to go.
I will be going to a dinner theatre on Friday with my brother, Don and my friend, Dottie. My cousin Scott will be singing with some other performers. It is Italian night. My cousin is not Italian, although, he sings in Italian. It should be a fun night. I will be staying over there but am not sure where. I may stay with Dottie, Don or at my brother, Rick’s house. I will be bringing Danny. He will stay at Don’s during the show.
Well, it is hard to type and watch the movie at the same time. I’ll have to start it over as I have no idea what’s going on. It is Casino Royale.
News from the Vorlon Wife
Today was another busy day. I had to go to the Vet's first thing this morning to get Danny Boy's medicine. Then I went to the Video store but it wasn't open yet so I put my movie in the slot and went across the way to WaWa to get a French Vanilla Cappuccino. When I got home, Danny was waiting to go out. The Cappuccino had to wait.
I installed one of Ted's water timers. I hope it works. I cleaned the fish tank and filled up the water. I realized my brother would be here soon so I had to get things out of the way so we could install the air conditioners. Don came at lunchtime so we went back to the WaWa and got some sandwiches and cherry pies. Everything reminds me of Ted. When Don picked up the cherry pie, I remember how much Ted liked them. He would have picked one up, too.
After we ate, we walked Danny and then went to Mainero's to look at their air conditioners. We threw one out last fall as it had slots in the top and the rain water would get in and the drain holes would get plugged up. It would over flow onto the sun porch. It cause mildew to grow in it and the air stunk of it. Any way, Mainero’s air conditioner all had slots in the top. The clerk said they were making all of them that way these days to be more energy efficient. I decided to look in Home Depot; they were having a sale. All the air conditioners at Home Depot had slots in the top. I had decided to get two 5000BTU instead of one large on. They would be easier to carry up and down to the cellar for storage in the winter. These were a different brand than the GE's I have and the installation was horrendous. They had a diagram of items (parts) and it wasn't clear what you were supposed to do with the items. It took us hours to figure it out. They don't quite fit like the GE's. I should have gotten the GE's from Mainero’s but we finally got them in the windows. The look nice and are quite. We still had to carry the bedroom air conditioners up from the basement and put them in the windows up there. Fortunately, they were ready to place right in and close the windows on them. It was almost 6:30 when we got done and Danny was eager to go out for his walk. We took him out and fed him when we got back.
My friend had given me a gift certificate to Red Lobster but there service is slow and it was almost 7PM. We decided to go to Larry's. We had a nice dinner there.
I had one more job for Don to help me with. I needed him to help me measure and mark my molding for the living room. It only took a couple minutes. Don then went on home. I had to do a little more work with the air conditioners. I had to drill some holes in the window pane so I could install an L shaped bracket. This prevents the window from being opened up.
I gave Danny his new eardrops. He was not happy. He hates getting his ears done.
Don lent me a movie, Casino Royal, but it's late so I'll watch it tomorrow.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Our day started at 4:15am this morning. I took Danny out for a walk but it was raining so he wanted to come back in. I finished getting ready for my trip to DC and Annapolis. I took Danny Boy out to the kennel. He cried when I closed the gate on him. Erica was bringing out her collies so I hoped he would settle down. I felt like a mother feels when she leaves her child at daycare for the 1st time. I pictured him pawing at the gate and crying all day. I hoped he would be smart enough to go inside the igloo dog house if it rained. He tossed his blankey out and it was soaked when I picked him up. He and his toys were dry so I guess he went in the igloo.
The kennel is in East Vineland and I had to catch the bus on the west side. It normally would take 20 minutes to get there but the bridge is still out from the flood last week so I had to allow a half hour.
The traffic was heavy on Interstate 95 almost the whole way to Alexandria, VA. We went to the National Human Resource Association Headquarters there. It is a beautiful building. They serve Human Resource people throughout the world. It was good to see my Human Resource Friends.
We had lunch at Dave’s Famous Ribs in Annapolis. I got a small rib platter. It was delicious.
We boarded the bus and proceeded to the Naval Academy. It was very impressive. The students have a full course load and must maintain physical fitness throughout the 4 years. 1200 students start and 1000 finish. The guide told us how many tons of food is needed to feed the midshipman as they are called. She explained where the term came from. Back in the days of wooden sailing vessels, boys of about 11 years old would stand at mid-ship and learn everything that was needed to sail a ship. I will post some photos of the trip.
I returned a call to the Vet to learn of the results of Danny’s culture. The results were no bacteria and no yeast. They claim there was a little yeast in the office culture earlier so they will be changing Danny’s medication. There is a new medication that just became available three days ago.
Danny Boy had his dinner, his ears were done and he went directly to bed. He zonked out so I guess he had a good time with the collies. Collies are nice gentle dogs but have dog hair all over the place. I pulled some off Danny’s blanket. I’m glad Danny doesn’t shed.
I am going to vegetate for awhile watching Stargate and then I will join Danny.

Redbud Tree
I took Danny Boy over to my friend’s house that has the kennel. They have a donkey and a pony. Danny barked at them. I don’t know if he thought they were big dogs or he just didn’t know what they were. The pony backed away from him but came up to the fence and backed away. I pulled Danny away as I didn’t want him to frighten the pony. The donkey didn’t seem to mind being barked at.
I took Danny over to the kennel and we were greeted by a friendly collie. They sniffed each others noses through the fence. Danny did not bark at him at all. He sniffed and wagged his tail. I will be leaving him there all day tomorrow and I think he will like being with the collies.
Sonia called and wished me a Happy Birthday. It was good to talk to her.
I got my perm today. It turned out nice. The hairdresser’s name was Carol. She had studied my chart and knew just what to do. The owner’s wife showed my some photos of Tommy (the hairdresser who passed away). He was an avid fisherman. There were a lot of photos of him with fish he had caught over the years. Tommy always told me of his fishing adventures.
While I was in the middle of getting my perm, I got a call from Manpower and start work on Monday. I’ll be doing general office work and the place is only 5 minutes away.
I walked Danny when I got home and then vegetated before going to work on the hedge. I can’t believe how much it grew since I cut it last week.
My brother and my nephew called this evening and my grand nephew wished me a Happy Birthday. I’ve had a lot of birthday wishes and am thankful for all my family and friends.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
I had some upsetting news today. I called to make an appointment with my hairdresser and found he had passed away in March. He went into the hospital with pneumonia and they found he had lung cancer and it had gone into his bones. He was in a lot of pain and went down hill very quickly. He was 47 years old. His father was Japanese Hawaiian and his mother Japanese American from California. They were relocated here during WWII.
I have been going to him for 25 years. I will miss my friend.
I ran some errands this morning. I went to Boscov’s and bought myself a birthday present. I saw they had a Jade pendant on sale so I thought it would look nice with the Jade earrings Ted had given me many years ago.
After Boscov’s, I went to Home Depot to get a molding for the living room. The one it has over the opening to the kitchen, doesn’t go all the way to the ceiling. I got a quarter round and needed 9 + feet. I found a 10 foot piece and yes, it fit in my Honda. Great little cars. The seats go down and opens up the trunk. It went from the dashboard to the corner of the trunk.
After lunch, I went to the supermarket and got some things on my list. I got some fruit and has cantaloupe for dinner. I have strawberries and bananas for my cereal.
I brought Ted’s water timers up from the basement. I put in the batteries and set the date and time. Tomorrow, I’ll setup the watering schedule for the odd/even cycle. I read the instructions earlier tonight.
After dinner, I went to a meeting at the church. They invited the area minister and the pastor from the NJABC to talk about the American Baptist Church Association. Some members were concerned about the Associations stand on different issues that are facing churches today. Main concerns were gay marriage and abortion. The meeting ran late as usual.
I walked Danny when I got home and put the drops in his ears. I made some Chamomile Tea and Danny is growling to go to bed.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Today, I drove Dasher 1 for the last time. The Vorlon car went to its new home. I felt good about the car going to a good home.
I did some errands today. I had to go to the former office and make a copy. I went to the bank to change Dodecahedron's address and go to the ATM. I dropped some food and treats off at the SPCA. Things that Danny won't eat. He's very particular.
I just did his ears. He tried to run away. He buries his head in my lap and shakes his head so I can't get at his ears. I am still able to get the job done. He ran away from me, shook his ears and then came back. He likes to lie beside me or on top of me. He doesn't like me to type because I'm not paying attention to him.
I went to my Grief Support group tonight. It is a big help to me. It helps to talk with other people who are suffering a loss, too. We share things that maybe others can not understand.
It was hard looking at the empty space in the garage. It was like the empty space in my heart.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Danny Boy woke me at 3am and wanted out. I took him out and spotted the nasty little black dog that lives down the street. I quickly turned Danny the other way and he did not see him. When we came out at 6:30, the little black dog was still out there in the same spot. The owners must have left him out all night. He was probably who Danny was barking out the other night.
We didn’t do much today. I had a list of things but didn’t do them. I made some phone calls. I found some gift cards that Ted had and called to see if there were anything left on them. One had never been used and the other had fifteen dollars on it.
I will take Dasher 1 on its last ride in my possession tomorrow. I hate to see it go but I don’t need two nearly identical cars. The insurance is due May 15th so that will be a savings, also.
I searched the computer for jobs and houses in the area near my family. Nothing caught my eye.
II did Danny’s ears and he is waiting to get up on my lap.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
I opened up the bedroom window last night and left the shade part way up. Danny Boy woke up at 3am and started barking out the window. I looked but didn't see anything.
I went to church and sang in the choir. My friends gave me a deposit for Dasher 1. They call me tomorrow to make arrangements to get the car. After the coffee time, I went home to walk Danny and then met a group of church friends for lunch at the Greek restaurant. The special was \Flounder Rondos. It is one of my favorite so I ordered it. It comes with a big Greek salad and pita bread. I ate have the flounder and took the rest home.
I walked Danny when I got back and new couple in the neighborhood was working on their yard. They asked me if I wanted the azaleas as they were ripping them out. I said yes. There were about 20 of them so I got my car and went back to pick them up. They only live a couple houses away but I don't have a wheelbarrow so I figured I put them in the trunk. I put an old sheet in the trunk but some dirt got all over anyway. I brought them home and stacked them in a shady area under the rhododendron. I'll go out and water them down when I'm done here. I lost some azaleas of the years. Sometimes a harsh winter will take a couple out. I'll take most of them to my brother's. They will look nice against his white vinyl fence. I'll take some of my plants over there to keep until I find a place to live. I would hate to leave all my plants. I'll leave some for curb appeal.
Since I had a late lunch, I wasn't very hungry so I asked Danny if he wanted to go put for ice cream. He jumped up and ran for the door. He knows the word "out". I ordered my strawberry Artic Swirl. When I got back to the car, he had jumped into the front seat. I thought how am I going to put this down without him eating it. I intended to put it in the cup holder but had to put it between my legs so he wouldn't get at it.
I gave him some in his bowl when we got back. Well, it's time to do his ears and he'll want to go out again before turning in.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
We were up and out early. We had a lot of things to do. My friends from church came at 10:00 to look at the car again. Bob liked it at first glance. Ethan drove it out to Route 55 to try it out on the highway. Both seemed very pleased with it and will give me a deposit tomorrow.
I looked through all my files to find the records for Dasher 1. Ethan had a question about whether the timing belt had been replaced. I found the paperwork and the timing belt had indeed been replaced. I called Ethan and he was pleased
I trimmed the Irish junipers and the Alberto spruces. I took some more photos of my flowers. I hope I will be able to post them. I'm having a problem with learning the software. I seem to be doing something wrong. It's a very difficult process locating the photos I want to put into the image composer. Then when I change the pixel width, it doesn't stay changed.
I tried cropping the photo in print shop and was successful at that but I'm trying to learn too much at once. I was unable to upload the photo of Danny Boy and it is a mess in the image composer. I don't know how to undue what ever I did.
I gave Danny a bath today. I have been afraid to give him one because of his ear problem. It was a very nice day so I put him out on his leas and he dug in the yard and rolled around in the dirt. He was having a good time rolling his face in the dirt and rolling around on his back. I figured I'd give him a bath after that. He tolerates bath but does not like it. He is bright white and silky now.
I'm going to do Danny's ears and put in my movie. I'll walk him one more time and then off to bed.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
I posted the Friday Flower Blog today. I am learning to take the photos and to post them. I hope you like the Evening Primrose. I have missed the Vorlon's Flower Blog. I hope I can do it justice.
I did some work on the plaster job over my door. The Vorlon Brother-in-law patched the hole and did not have a chance to finish it. The Vorlon went into the hospital during the folks visit and there wasn't time to finish the job. It needs to be sanded and finished. I did some scraping on it. It will need some more.
When I get that done, I'll put wallpaper on that one wall and paint the rest of the kitchen. I'll have to post a photo when I'm done.
This afternoon, I cut the grass. I'll have to figure out how to lower the blade. The grass was uneven as we have different varieties. Some grow faster than others. Some of the grass was 8 inches long and some was barely a quarter of an inch. It looks nice and green now. I took some photos of the tulips. If they look nice, I put them on next Friday's Blog.
I just gave Danny his eardrops. I have to wrestle with him to do it. He saw the bottle in my hand and started to run away. Poor little guy. I hope the Vet can find the right remedy for him.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Evening Primrose. An early bloomer. Taken in early March.
Danny went to the Vet for the culture on his ears. He was terrified. He did not like that place. He shook with fear. I felt sorry I had to leave him. I went to the super market after I dropped him off. It was difficult going there as I always went with Ted. He would pick out the produce he wanted and other items. He liked to cook and would choose what he wanted to make.
The Vet called around noon and said Danny was fine and I could pick him up at any time. I drove right over to get him. The Vet said he was good. She brought him out on his leash without the muzzle. He looked happy to see me. The culture has to develop so they know what they are dealing with. I hope they can clear up his ears.
I think I exhausted myself worrying about him. I had my lunch and was a couch potato for the rest of the day.
One of Ted’s clients, Eric, called to see how I was doing. It is very heartwarming to know how caring Ted’s clients are. Another client, Karen, called earlier in the week. Ted cared very much about his clients, too. We alee miss him so very much.
I put some turkey wings with potatoes and carrots in the oven for my dinner. I can divide them up into several meals and put in the freezer. I almost forgot about choir practice. I gobbled down my dinner and went out the door. We practiced our hymn for Sunday as well as several songs for the up coming weeks right through Memorial Day.
Danny seems to be jealous of my typing on the computer. He doesn’t like it when he is not the center of my attention. He jumps in my lap and nuzzles me to pet him. He jumped down and ran in the living room barking and then into the kitchen. He gave up and went to bed.
I’ll be joining him soon.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
I am grateful to Reb for helping me with posting the photo of Dasher 1. I messed up the whole blog with my blunder.
I felt good after my grief support group last night, however, today I feel rather down. I awoke with sinus problems and have been worried about Danny’s ear problem. He woke me up scratching at his ears and shaking his head.
I called the Vet and he scheduled Danny to come tomorrow for a procedure to get a culture from his inner ear. He will have to go at 8am and be put under anesthesia so he won’t jerk his head. They will call me when he comes out of it and is ready to go home.
I forgot it was Red Hat Luncheon today. I called the hostess and told her I would come.
I called my aunt as she had decided not to go to Sam’s Place. She said that her son would only be singing a few songs and there would be other performers. She decided she would go the next night when her son would be singing the whole night. She was also upset about her nephew have dementia. She felt I would be understanding. Her nephew is a good man. I don’t understand why God let’s this happen to his people. It seems so many good Christian people either have or still are suffering. Ted said the rain falls equally on the righteous and the unrighteous.
I talked to her for awhile and realized I’d be late for my luncheon. I quickly printed a map off map quest. I thought I had followed the map but I got lost. I was able to find the restaurant and met the ladies for lunch. I felt rather anxious. I thought it would be good to get out but the whole time, I just wanted to go home. It seems that’s how I feel anymore. These feelings are part of the grieving process.
I went to Bible Study. I get a lot of support and prayers from the group. I am troubled however, as people have left the church. There were some unkind things said to them. It’s hard to comprehend how good people can be so unkind at times.
Danny has had his walk. It was misting and I believe the rain causes problems for his ears. They stick straight out and the rain can go right in. I hope things go well tomorrow and we can get to the bottom of his ear problems.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Here is a photo of Dasher 1
My friend and her son came to look at Dasher 1 today. He seemed very happy with it. It was the first time he drove manual transmission and he did great. He seemed like it was fun to drive. His father is recovering from surgery so he will come to look at the car on the weekend.
Danny is having more trouble with his ears. He was getting better but I think the rainy weather wasn’t good for his ears. They stick straight out and probably get rain and dampness down in his ears. I should have use the hair dryer on him. I’ll have to do that next time.
I went to my grief support group tonight. I feel it is really helpful. I missed going last week when the class was canceled.
Danny is whining to go to bed so I’d better go up there.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
I awoke to a noise and thought the wind was blowing the shingles off the roof. I looked out the window and it was all white with snow. I don’t know what the noise was. The shingles were covered with snow. Danny stayed in bed until 8am. I took him out but he did not want to go. A lady came by with her dog and distracted him. I took him back into the house until they passed by. I took him out to the tree and he went. When he got back in I dried him off with a towel. He thinks I’m playing with him; He tries to grab the towel and run off with it.
He sits on my lap with a blanket over him. He no sooner gets dry when it’s time to go out again. Fortunately, the rain let up a bit so we could go for a walk and he could do his business.
I wrote some thank you notes for some people whose addresses I just received. I still have a couple more to do. It seems like little jobs take a lot out of me.
I wonder about what my purpose is now and what I should do. Ted and I did everything together. We worked together and we were home together. We did almost everything together. It’s hard to imagine what I will do with out him. My friend who lost his wife nearly 2 years ago said these feelings are normal. It will get easier.
My friend’s son called. He came home from college to look at Ted’s car. He wants to see it tomorrow. He is a very nice young man. I hope he likes the car. I would feel good about him having it.
My brother called. We are going to watch my cousin perform at Sam’s. It is Italian Night and Scott sings several songs in Italian. He’s Irish. There will be some other performers there, too. My Aunt was going to go with us but has changed her mind. Don didn’t know why. I’ll have to give her a call and find out.
Perhaps tomorrow, I’ll try to post another photo. I need to practice so I don’t forget how to do it. I have taken plenty of flower photos.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Danny Boy slept late this morning; He must have known it was raining. I was able to have my coffee without him sticking his nose in the door to go out. I carried him out to the tree holding an umbrella over him. He did not go. He wanted to bolt back into the house. I took him out again at 8:30 and he piddled on a tuft of grass and bolted back to the house.
I went to church and afterward, I talked to a friend who owns a modular home park. I asked if I could put a sign in her office about Ted’s car. She said “Yes”. I went to lunch with some other church friends. I saw Sonia and her family at the restaurant. When I got home, I took Danny out to do his business and found a message on my answering machine. My friend I talked to about the car had called. I returned her call and she said her son is interested in buying the car. They will come and look at it next weekend as he is in college.
Danny is pestering me to go out so I’ll sign off.
News from the Vorlon Wife
Here is a photo of an early red tulip I took last week.
We were up at 6:30 this morning and out for our walk. I worked on the computer loading the photos of my car into the program. I tried to load it in the program Reb sent but am still having some problems. I think I got them into the program but getting them out is another problem. I went onto craigslist and read about the scams. I don’t know what to do about selling the Vorlon’s car. There are fraudulent certified checks and money orders. Also, I don’t know if I want people coming to my house to look at the car. I also don’t want to put it out in the drive with a sign on it. Maybe I’ll see if I can put a sign in the auto mechanic’s garage. Maybe one of his clients is in need of a good used car. I can also check with the credit union. Sometimes they have cars for sale on their lot. Things are really complicated these days. Ted always took care of these things. I feel so alone.
While I was working, one of Ted’s clients called to see how I was doing and to let me know how much they miss Ted. He was more than their computer guy, he was their friend. He was always able to help them with their computer problems.
I trimmed the hedge after lunch. I put Danny out on his lead while I trimmed away. He barked at the noise. It’s amazing what a little rain will do to bring on the growth of the hedge. It grows in uneven sprouts so I tried to even it up. I came in and had some tea.
I was doing some work, running up and down the cellar steps. I went upstairs and Danny was not on the bed. I looked in all the rooms calling him but could not find him. The door wasn’t opened so he couldn’t have gotten out. I wondered if he had gone down the cellar. He never goes down there. He stands at the top and looks down at me. I opened the door slowly as it swings in over the step. I saw white fur backing down out of the way. He had gone down the cellar without my knowledge and I had shut him in there. Poor little guy.
Danny doesn’t do his business when he is on his chain so I had to walk him. When we got back, Ginger, the Cocker Spaniel, across the street was out for her walk. She and Danny do not get along very well. Ginger hardly ever sees other dogs and she growls with a warbling sound. She growls at Danny and me. Danny barks at her and wants to be friends but she is not having anything to do with him. We’ll keep trying.
My cousin, Joy, called this afternoon. We had both received a photo in the mail so we were discussing the people in the photo. It was sent by my aunt, Jean. It was a photo in her wedding album. My parents were in it with my brother, Rick. He was about 13 years old. No young children were invited to the wedding so I wasn’t in the photo. Joy was in it with her parents and sister and sister’s family. My mother’s uncle Frank was in it. It was a good photo. We were both delighted to receive it.
After Danny’s evening walk, he went up to bed. He will be down soon for his night time walk. I better go do his ears. It’s past time to do that.
News from the Vorlon Wife
I loaded a program to post my flowers on the blog but as you can see, I have failed. There is so much I wish Ted had taught me or I had paid better attention.
I had my usual walks with Danny. I took Dasher 1 to the car wash and got a good cleaning for it. It took some photos and will load them on the computer. I made a For Sale sign to put on it. I will go onto Craigslist.com and see if I can figure out how to place my ad and post my photos. I hope I have better luck than I did with my Flower Blog.
I sometimes go back and read Ted’s early blogs before he got sick. It seems so impossible that this all happened to him. I miss him so much and I need him. Summer is coming. I’ve been having a craving for a Strawberry Blizzard or Artic Swirl. I don’t know if I can eat one again without bursting into tears. Ted and I would get the Strawberry Blizzard at the Dairy Queen in Ocean City or we would get the Strawberry Artic Swirl at Del’s Custard on Main Road. We did everything together so everything reminds me of him.
I looked up on the internet and printed out some forms on dissolving the company. It is all so complicated. I have so much to do. It all seems so horrendous. I’ll work on it next week.
I’m watching Stargate. The final 10 episodes start tonight. Danny will be down soon for his nighttime walk,
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Danny had me up and out at 3:30am. He had some business to do and didn’t waste any time doing it. It was raining slightly. We came aback and went back to bed. When we went out again at 8:00am it was pouring rain. I put his yellow raincoat on him. He doesn’t like it but it keeps most of him dry. His legs and feet still get wet. He didn’t waste much time this time either. We got half and inch of rain.
I finished up the taxes today. I thought I was finished yesterday but it was after 3pm when I sent the file to the bank and I had to wait until this morning. I also was missing a form so I took it to the accountant. I filed some things in the basement. I made a For Sale Sign for Ted’s car.
I loaded my spring flowers into the computer. I hope to load Reb’s program on the weekend and start posting them on the blog. More rain is coming on the weekend. We’re supposed to get a Nor’easter.
I got a video on the weekend but didn’t have a chance to watch it. I watched it this afternoon. It was Eight Below. Danny went nuts when he saw the dogs. Woof! Woof! Woof!. I could hardly hear the movie. I put the movie on pause while I gave him his dinner and made mine. I took him out after the movie. The police were at my neighbors so I went over to see if she was all right. Someone had broken into her garage and into her car. Some papers were stolen out of the glove compartment. I don’t know what kind of papers they were. She was OK so I continued home. I had to go to choir practice.
It was a good practice. We sang several new songs. I wanted to wait awhile before taking Danny out. He kept pestering me so I took him out at 8:35. He did his business but he’s pestering me to go out again. I guess I’ll have to take him out again before I go to bed.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
I just got back from Bible Study and walking Danny Boy. I don’t think he goes out to do his business; he goes out to find something to bark at. He found a cat tonight.
This afternoon, he went across the street to meet Ginger. Ginger is a Cocker Spaniel. They have barked at each other but never met. They sniffed noses and seemed like they would be all right but Ginger start growling. She had a gargling kind of a growl. She lunged at Danny and scared him away. He is a little leary of her. She is a little bigger then he is. He was on her turf.
I worked on Eastern Business stuff today. I filed most of the quarterly taxes but have to get a form from my accountant tomorrow. I reconciled the company account. I had missed some entries and had to go back and put them in.
I took some pictures of the early red tulips.
I have list of things I have to do. I just do down the list and cross off one item at a time.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Danny and I were up and out about 6:00am. I had my coffee made by a coffee bag and made a fresh pot. At 8:00 I took Danny out again then called the life insurance company because they had taken Ted’s premium out of my checking account. The man said he would put a stop on it. I asked if I would get a refund and he said it would be sent to me with my principal amount. What a bummer. They delay paying me and then they rip me off and delay returning my premium.
I reconciled both the company and my personal bank statements. The mail man came and brought the short certificate from the surrogate and I filled out the form and took it to the notary. It is for Ted’s last disability check. They had sent a two week check which one week was before his death and one week was after. I had to pay $5.00 for the certificate and $5.00 for the notary. I seem to be getting ripped off all around.
The gentleman who runs the grief support called and cancelled tonight’s meeting. I was looking forward to going. I really needed the support. He had a plumbing problem and had to have his driveway dug up to get to the sewer. My sewer goes under the driveway also. It would be a mess to have to dig that up.
I called our friend from Ted’s BNI group. She has a private kennel for her dogs. She had boarded another friend’s dog when she went on vacation. I asked if her kennel would be available for doggie day care. She was very enthusiastic. She has a horse farm with several horses, a pony and a donkey. It is a very nice place. She has several collies. Each dog has its own kennel run and can be open for the dogs to roam around each other kennel. When I need to take Danny, he will start out in his own kennel until we see how he gets along with the other dogs and with my friend. He will be safe there. I won’t have to worry about him. I am going on an all day bus trip later in the month and will take Danny there for the day. I’ll also take him there if I get a job in which I won’t be able to get home for lunch. I hope he likes it there. He loves to be outside. He will also be able to go inside a dog house or shelter.
I have some early red tulips in bloom. I’ll try to get some photos tomorrow. I also may have to give the hedge a trim this week. Some other projects are to wash and vacuum Ted’s car and get it ready for sale. My car needs the same. I need to do some weeding around the back yard and dig out the dandelions.
News from the Vorlon Wife
I thought I’d get an early start tonight. Danny was up at 5:00am and wanted out. He did his business rather quickly so he really had to go. When we got back, we went back to bed. We got up around 7:30 and I had my coffee. I called about the job. I felt I wasn’t up to it. I can barely function. I felt down most of the day. The spring pollen makes me feel like I have bull frog eyes.
I went to work on Eastern Business quarterly reports. I was stuck on a problem but was able to call someone to help me. It was confusing at first but I managed to get it done. I think!
Doing the quarterly reports is quite nerve racking. I still have to do a little more and I’ll do that tomorrow.
I talked to my sister-in-law. She called to let me know that I forgot my bowl. She also said there was a house for sale near her. It would cost about the same as I could sell my house for but it’s a smaller house, smaller lot, no garage, and higher taxes. The house just went on the market but I’m not ready to make any moves.
I talked to Phyllis today. She told me about Craigslist.com. It looks like a good site to sell some of my things. I glanced at it and I’ll have to check it out a little more.
I’ll take Danny out for his night time walk and then turn in early.
News from the Vorlon Wife
Danny and I were up at 6:15 and out for our walk. Had some coffee and took him out again at 8:00. I got ready for church and sang in the choir. I wore my yellow pantsuit with my yellow Easter Bonnet. After greeting everyone at church, I picked out my Easter Lilies from the alter. I got 3. Two were in memory of Ted and my parents and one was in honor of Ted's parents.
I made my Waldorf Salad, got Danny ready and left for PA. My brother Rick and his wife, Sylvia had the family dinner. Danny was doing fine. Rick and Sylvia have a fenced in yard so Danny could go outside free of the leash. He liked exploring around. When my niece Cheryl got there, Danny sniffed her and then growled and tried to bite her. He has met Cheryl before and was good with her. Cheryl thought it was because she had been petting her male dog before she came. I had to put Danny's muzzle on. My other niece, Tina came with her mother and father in-law. Gail said she used to raise poodles, she felt sorry for him with the muzzle on and when she went to pet Danny but he barked and growled. I said, "That's why I have the muzzle on".
When my nephew, Rick came, he and his son went across the street where the schoolyard is. Joey is 4 years old and has a child size Quad. He drove it around the schoolyard. Danny wanted to run after him so I ran with him chasing after Joey. I took some photos and will try to get them up on the blog this week.
Rick's wife came with their dog Sassy and both dogs barked at each other. We kept them separate both were unhappy.
I started feeling very tired so I got my things and Danny ready to go home. We exchanged Easter flowers and gifts and I was on my way. I forgot my dish I brought the Waldorf in so I have to get it later.
Danny started whining and woofing at me on the expressway so I had to pull over and let him out on the leash so he could relieve himself. A little further down the road he started whining again. I guess I didn't give him enough time. I was almost at the exit so he would have to wait. I was going past my storage locker so I stopped in there to pick up a toner for my printer. I walked Danny around there but he did not go. I guess no other dogs had been there marking their territory. Danny always has to sniff out the right spot.
I got home, changed into my jammies, and put my sweat suit over it. I called Sylvia to let her know I got home OK. Then I took Danny out for a walk. He did his business and marked his territory. He thinks the whole neighborhood is his territory.
When we got back, he ate his dinner and I did his ears. I called the Vorlon Parents and then asked Danny if he wanted to go up to bed. He was up and on his way up the steps with me behind him.
News from the Vorlon Wife
Danny woke me up at 6:10. We went out for our morning walk. When we returned, I went back to bed. I had a hard time getting to sleep last night. I was feeling good about the job potential but when I got in bed, I had second thoughts. I feel emotionally exhausted and I’m not sure I can handle the job.
I woke up again at 8:00 had my coffee and cleaned Danny’s ears. The cookie treat no longer works. When he sees the cookie, he associates it with the ear cleaning and turns his nose up at it. He went back and ate it when I wasn’t looking. It was snowing for awhile but cleared off so I took Danny out again for his second business duty.
I took Danny out in Blue Velvet to the Video store and then went looking for Easter flowers for my family. I didn’t like the ones in the Supermarket yesterday. I tried two places and they didn’t have what I wanted. I went out to Coia’s where we buy our summer flowers. They have everything there. I got 4 purple hyacinths for my nieces and nephews. I donated 2 Easter Lilies to the church in memory of Ted and my parents and one in honor of Ted’s parents. I will keep one and give the other 2 to my brothers.
I had some lunch when I got back and then went out and applied the fertilizer with crab preventer. It’s supposed to go down when the flowers start to fall from the forsythia. I noticed some on the ground when I took Danny Boy for his walk. It was pretty easy to do. I poured the fertilizer in the spreader and wheeled it around. I didn’t have enough to do the side by the hedge but I got the rest of them so it’s good enough.
I baked the ham I bought the other day and put lamb and rice in the crock pot for Danny and me. I put most of the ham in the freezer so I can have several meals with it.
I took Danny for his walk around the block. He loves being outside.
When the food was ready, I dished out some lamb and rice for Danny and put it in with his dry food. He could hardly wait for me to cut it up and put it in his dish. He was hopping up on his hind legs sniffing. He liked the bones. He chewed them up.
I cooked some fresh asparagus and had a small piece of ham and the lamb and rice. I added a little salt for me as it was pretty bland.
I will be going to my brother, Rick’s tomorrow. I’ll take my Waldolf Salad; I’ll make it in the morning so it will be fresh.
I’ll be doing Danny’s ears soon. I’ll watch my movie and then take Danny out for his nightly walk.

Danny Boy and I were up and out around 6:00am. When we got back, I cleaned his ears. I had to bribe him with a cookie crumb to get him on the bed. When he sees me pick up the eardrops, he runs. He was good about me put them in so got his reward.
My income tax was rejected again so I had to print it out to mail it. I took awhile to print so I let it print while a made a fresh pot of coffee. I'll figure it out tomorrow.
I went to the office as the building manager called and said a check had come for me. I picked it up and deposited it in the bank.
I had to get ready to meet the HR people about the job. It went very well. They have to figure what salary to offer me and then I decide whether to accept.
I had lunch with my friends afterward. They had their granddaughter with them. Charlotte is a real cutie pie.
I went from there to pick up Sonia to go to Good Friday Service. Vineland has a group of churches of all denominations and the Synagogue who make up the Ministeruim. Their current project is to provide a shelter for the homeless. The project has been on hold because one church in town (Who call themselves a Mission Church) doesn’t want it near their building. They are leading a crusade against the shelter. So money that could go for the shelter has to be shelled out in legal fees.
The churches join together and have the Good Friday Service. It is at a different church each year. There are 35 minute services on the last words of Christ. Each one done by a different minister/priest and denomination. We got there at 1:45 and stayed until 3:00. Other years, we went at 12:00 or 1:00 during our lunch hour.
The church was near my house so I stopped off to let Danny out. Sonia loves Danny and he loves her. She helped me with a computer problem. Then we took Danny with us to take her home.
When I got back, I walked Danny then went to work hoeing around my flower beds. I want to get the crabicide down this weekend. It supposed to snow tomorrow so I’m not sure when I’ll get it done.
I had dinner from my leftover lunch. Even that makes me sad sometimes as I had a bread pudding and Ted liked bread pudding. I watched the other movie I had rented last Sat. as it is due back tomorrow. “Cars” It was cute.
It was a long day
News from the Vorlon Wife
Danny and I did our morning walk. I cleaned his ears and he was quite good about it this morning. After breakfast, I ran a few errands. I got some stamps at the post office. I went to Manpower Temps and talked to the lady in charge. She was glad to see me and she reactivated me. I dropped the company paperwork off at the accountant's office. I went to the bank and I went to the supermarket.
I found some dry lamb and rice for Danny. He didn't seem to like the one can food I got him. I almost forgot the cleaning lady was coming so I hurried home so she wouldn't walk in on Danny. I don't know how he'd react with someone coming in when I'm not there.
When I got home, I once again tried to fix the errors on my personal tax. It looks like I may have fixed it this time.
While I was doing the taxes online, my friend called and said the job she had mentioned was still opened and she made it a conference call with the HR director. They would really like to have me work for them. They are will to let me have a longer lunchtime so I can come home and take care of Danny. I am going over there to talk to them tomorrow and decide if the job is right for me. If so, I will have to call Manpower and let them know.
I went to church this evening for the Holy Thursday Service. Pastor Bennett was not there. He has a very bad cold. Pastor Donchez filled in for him. I saw his wife Linda about to sit by herself so I called her over to me. I asked her to help me with fellowship at the end of April and she was happy to.
Danny liked the dry lamb and rice. I'll keep him on it for 6 weeks as the Vet said. I hope his ear problem will go away. He must have known this evening that it was time to do his ears. He ran upstairs and got on the furtherest corned of the king size bed. I grabbed him and pulled him over to me; he was dragging his feet. I gave him a sniff of a cookie and he let me clean his ears. He got a little piece of the cookie after each ear. He is now sleeping at the foot of my side. When I go in, he will go up and sleep with his head on Ted's pillow. I had better turn in; I have that interview tomorrow.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
I took Danny out around 6:30. It was misty but not raining. I tried sending my tax again but it was rejected. I’ll have to print it out and mail it. As I was eating my breakfast, Danny stuck his nose in the door so I opened it. It was pouring down rain. He looked out and turned around. He changed his mind about going out.
I grabbed the paperwork I needed to copy and went to the office complex where the building manager let me use the copy machine. She gave me my mail and I had a couple checks. I stopped at the dollar store to pick up a few things and Ted’s cell phone rang. It was Dottie. She will go to the Dinner Theatre where my cousin Scott will be singing in May.
When I got back, I took Danny for his noontime walk and put his new flea killer medicine on him. He had been scratching. He may have dry skin. It was time for lunch and it was a good day for soup. I tried giving Danny some of the dog food I bought yesterday. He turned his nose up at it. He came back three times but would not eat it.
I worked on tying my general ledger into my subsidiary ledgers. Of course, they were off so I printed some more reports and was able to tie them together. I have it all in a box and ready to take to the accountant.
I drove Dasher 1 today. I went to the post office to drop some mail off. I walked Danny and then changed my clothes to go to Toastmasters. My friend Phyllis went with me. I am glad she for tow reasons. One is because the road to Ocean City is very dark and winding. It was light going there but coming home was dark. It was good to see the Toastmasters. It has been a long time since I’d been to a meeting. Ted wasn’t well enough to go. I was a little emotional and that’s the second reason I’m glad Phyllis could go with me. It was hard to be there and not have Ted there. He was so much a part of Toastmasters. He had prepared a workshop for evaluations and the group was following his guidelines. It was as if a part of him was there in the room.
I walked Danny Boy when I got home. I had to wash his feet because they were muddy. He really fought me when I had to clean his ears. I had taken his halter off and he knew it would be harder for me to get a grip on him. I felt like we were wrestling. I finally got the job done but I had forgotten his treat. I gave him a lot of praise and rubbed his belly. He loves that.
News from the Vorlon Wife
This morning we were out at 6:30. Afterward, I pulled up my email and my online taxes were rejected. I had to make some corrections and sent it off again. I hope it went this time. I started on the business taxes.. I was missing some reports and had to look all over for them. I finally found them. I tied one of the accounts to the general ledger but the other two did not tie in. I have to do some research to find out why. It could be that an invoice has the wrong date on it. A job for tomorrow. I got tired of working on it.
I went down to BJ’s and got some gas. It was $2.459. I should have bought it the other day. I stopped in Home Depot and got the crab grass prevent or. I’ll put it on tomorrow if the weather is good. I went to Staples but did not know what number toner I need for the printer. I needed black toner and the number I had was for color. I didn’t know the model number so I’ll have to go back. I went into the pet store there and got some flea and tick killer for Danny and bought 3 different dog foods and hope he likes one. He is very picky.
I walked Danny when I got home and gave him his dinner. I decided to go to the Grief Support Group instead of the Women’s Service Circle with the church ladies. I enjoy the Service Circle but I felt I needed the grief support more. The past couple days I’ve felt down.
I walked Danny when I got home and he was frisky playing with his toys. I’ve learned to wait until he’s a little groggy to do his ears. I gathered up the trash and took it out to the curb. It is recycle night so I had to gather the paper and take the glass and cans out tonight.
Danny hopped up here so I did one ear and gave him his treat. He hopped down and ate it. I was surprised he came back. I did the other ear and gave him his treat again. He hopped down and ate that one. I came back again and he is lying beside me.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Today, we went out at 6:30 for our morning walk. I had my breakfast and took Danny for his 2nd walk of the morning. When we got back I left him outside on the 30ft lead. It was a nice day and he loves being outside. I just have to listen for when he barks to make sure a big dog doesn’t attack him. It was almost time for the investigator to come so I figured Danny could stay outside rather than muzzle him or shut him in the bathroom. I couldn’t have him biting the investigator.
The man was very nice and he doesn’t see any problem with settling my claim except for the reports from the doctors and hospitals. That is what can take so long. The doctors and hospitals are in no hurry to send the reports.
After the man left, I took Danny for his noon time walk and had some lunch. I had a Doctor’s appointment at 2:00. I needed my pain prescription filled and had to see the doctor because it’s been a year since I’ve been there.
I didn’t get home until after 3:00. Danny greeted me wagging his tail. He wanted out again. When I got back, I was feeling kind of tired. I had a big glass of iced tea and watched Star Trek. After dinner, I went on the computer and filed my personal taxes. I’m glad that’s over with. I will be getting some money back from the federal and the state.
Tomorrow, I’ll be working on the company taxes. I have some loose ends to clean up with that. It will be a relief to get that done. I have a big list of things to do.
Danny’s ears seem to be getting better. He doesn’t fight me as much when I put in his drops and clean them with the swab. Of course, he likes the steak treats I give him. I hope he is in for the night. He went out at 8:00pm and did his business. Sometimes he waits until I get ready for bed and he decides he wants to go out.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Happy April Fool’s Day and it’s also Palm Sunday.
Danny got me up at 5:30 this morning. He was moving around and then got vocal. He needed to go out so out we went. Then it was back to bed. The only trouble is then you fall asleep and wake up later than you had planned. We got up at 8:30. After some coffee, we went out again. Danny met another little dog friend. She was a little smaller than Danny and a little shy. She had been attached by a pit bull and had her lung punctured and other injuries. The lady warned me to take some pepper spray in case of stray dogs.
I used to have some but it all dried up. I’ll have to get some more.
I got ready for church and was almost late. Danny looked broken hearted when I went out the door with out him. The choir sang “The Old Rugged Cross Made the Difference”. It was a nice service. We were given palms as we walked in. Our first hymn was “The Palms” We didn’t have Communion today; we’ll be having it on Thursday. Dr. Donchez preached today. Pastor Bennett went to visit his family.
I walked Danny when I got home from church then had some lunch. I took Danny with me to the storage bin to get something I may need for the investigator. Of course it was the last ox I looked in on the bottom of the stack. When I got home, I did some more weeding across the front and put in some more mulch. I got about 98% of the front done. My neighbor Alex came out and we talked for awhile. The daffodils and hyacinths look pretty. I’ll have to take some more pictures.
I went in and called Danny Boy to go for his walk. I gave him his dinner and I had some chicken I had taken out of the freezer earlier. I made some coleslaw to have with it. There was a movie on TCM. It starred William Holden and Audrey Hepburn. It was one I hadn’t seen before. I called the Vorlon Parents. Ted always called them on Sunday evening so I continued the tradition.
I took Danny out for his nightly walk. When we got back; I played with him with his toy bone. I squeak it and he let’s go. I toss it across the room and he tears after it. He brings it back and holds it in his front paws with his butt sticking up. He looks so cute. He stretches that way. Ted wanted to teach him to bow on command. He’s a pretty smart dog. I don’t know if I can teach him to bow or not. His ears have been done. He seems to be doing better. He’s ready to go to bed and so am I.
