It was a nice morning but it turned cloudy when I got into my car to go to Middletown. Danny needed flea medicine at the Vets. I took him with me. It was mild today so he would be OK in the car. I took him into the Vets with me. I use back roads to get there but needed to do some shopping so went out to the main highway. I saw a Tractor Supply. My niece gets her dog food there so I stopped in. I didn't have luck with the dog food but they did have a throttle cable. It looks like it will fit my mower. I hope that it will.
I then went to the Food Lion to get a few things. I saw a bicycle shop near the Food Lion so I went in. I wanted to see if there were any bicycle clubs in the area. A customer of the store told me about a couple of clubs who have rides in the area. The store owner wrote the web sites down for me. It looked like a nice bike shop. It's good to know there is one nearby. I saw a bike on sale for $2800.00. Yikes! Ted and I bought racing bikes back in the 70's. The racing bikes have different style handlebars now. The bikes are still in excellent condition but it would be nice to have a mountain bike. I saw both of our bikes on Ebay. They seem to be classics. They are Raleigh bikes. Ted's is the Black Competition and mine is the white and turquoise Grand Sport.
It was raining by the time we got home. Danny didn't like going out. I took him out later and had to pull him out to the mailbox. He ran back but did his business before we got back. When it rained the other day, I found over three inches in the rain gauge. More rain will be coming.

I went to church and Sunday School today. Pastor Amy ended her series of the Sermon on the Mount and Sunday School began a study of the book, "The 24 Hours That Changed the World" by Adam Hamilton. It is about the last days of Jesus. It looks like it will be good.
It was nice out today. The forecast was for rain but it didn't come. It was rather pleasant. I baked some chicken breast and the heat from the oven has brought the stink bugs out of the woodwork. Maybe I should put it on everyday until I get rid of them. I can't flush them down the toilet anymore because I learn that the chemical they spray out interferes with the bacteria in the septic system. They croak in my soapy solution so I'll just throw them out on the branch pile or over the embankment. They are attracted to light and someone thought they'd use their zapper on them. Not a good idea. The stink would be all over the yard.
Danny got scared this morning. My plastic water bottle made a snap noise. He was terrified. He shook all over and wanted to run under the bed but clung next to me shaking. I put a pillow on the other side of him and he settled down. Poor little guy. He gets scared so easily.
I didn't hear from my niece this evening so I ate my chicken, baked potato and broccoli for dinner. There is an excellent program on the Green Planet channel about the last days of Jesus. I never watched the Green Planet channel before; I stumbled upon it as I was looking through the menu listing.

Snowdrops blooming on the west side garden in Chesapeake City. I saw them yesterday after the snow had melted.
I was raining when I woke up this morning. I put Danny's coat on him even thought it was 52 degrees. It would keep him dry. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a clump of snowdrops blooming. They must have been under the snow. The daffodils are popping their leaves out of the ground. It won't be long until spring.
I didn't feel very well so I went to see the doctor. She gave me some medicine for acid reflux. I hope it does the trick.
I went to the Acme Super Market on the way home from the doctors. I was out of almost everything except can goods.
I will post a photo of the snowdrops tomorrow. It was too rainy and windy today.
There is something wrong with my sewer. Someone will be coming tomorrow to see what the problem. I talked to my neighbor, Marlene, and she said last time someone threw a pair of men's underwear down the toilet. Janine, the Manager, thinks there must be something plugging it up. I hope it can be fixed easily.

I went to my exercise class today and was done in for the rest of the day. I did change the windshield wipers. Ted had a couple sets of them he ordered from the Honda Accessory Online Store. There were 4 of each size. I figured out how to get them off and then back on again. I think the winter weather destroyed them.
I ran the turbo sweeper around today and cleaned up the debris from my plants and the debris brought in from outside. The snow has melted quite a bit. It is almost all gone. There are no big piles because the plow didn't come through here. I heard it going down Bethel Road but that the county does. Here, the Manager of the trailer park has to call someone to do it and I don't think they call unless we get 12 inches or more.
I went to my church membership class tonight. Pastor Amy told us of a time someone from New York City asked about Chesapeake City. She said she lives in a place where the "Luff" family lives on Luff Lane and the McKeoen's live on McKeoen Lane. She went over the Leadership of the church and the sacraments of Baptism and Communion.
I didn't go food shopping so no ice cream today. I could have drove to the Valero food mart but I just wanted to get home and get into my jammies and get ready for bed.
News from the Vorlon Wife
Some neighbor kids on the next street made a nice snowman.
Yesterday, we had 7 inches of snow and this morning, it was 10 degrees. My exercise class was canceled again yesterday. It's been a bummer of a winter. Danny likes to put his face under the snow and rub it around as if he's washing his face.
I didn't do much yesterday or today. I did some laundry and some cleaning. I better get to the store tomorrow. I am out of ice cream.

Yesterday, I took Danny up the hill across the road and we walked along the lake. There was a flock of Trumpeter Swans and a flock of coots. The photo is fuzzy because I blew it up so I could tell whether the birds were snow geese or swans. Snow geese have black wing tips so these are trumpeter swans with the black beaks.
Danny and I had extremely muddy feet. I saw different tracks along the road, horse, deer, large dog and either small dog or fox. I also saw a child's bare foot prints. He or she may have gotten their shoes or boots stuck in the mud. That happened to me a couple times when I was a kid. It happened to my mother one time. She walked over to the new K-Mart and took the back road before it was blacktopped. She got her boots stuck in the mud and had to take them off and walk home barefoot.
It snowing, the forecast has been changed from 3 inches to 5 inches. Bummer, my exercise class will be canceled again.
Everything went well when I was the lay reader yesterday. I only made one mistake. I read the wrong line in the responsive reading. I read the bold line the congregation was supposed to read. I corrected myself and went on.
I had dinner with my niece and her husband last night. We went to our usual Hibachi Grill.
I put my valentine decorations away today. I left the red roses out for another week and then I will put out the St. Patrick decorations.

This is me standing at the Continental Divide in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado in 1985. I finally found my Colorado Photo Album and changed all the photos to a larger binder where they fit better. I pulled a few out to scan into the computer. I want to print an 8x10 of the one above.
It's been very windy today. It blew my recycling dumpster over and the trash blew all over the place. I had a plastic container on the west side of the house and it ended up on the east side. I picked up aluminum cans, papers, plastic bottles, and cardboard all over the yard, east, west and south. There is more all along the drainage ditch. I didn't get that.
I scanned in another photo. I posted it above.
I hung up my black wrought iron plate holders in the living room and put photos in them. I had to figure out how to hand them as the holes to attach them were two and a half inches apart and to wide for the stud. I thought I'd get some kind of metal brace and attach it to the plate holder and them screw it in the center of the brace. Then it dawned on me to use a coat hanger, cut it, and bend it. I put it through the two holes and bent it around the holes and I could just loop it over the hook I put in the stud. It worked out well. Now I need to come up with a similar plan for the plate holders I want to put in the kitchen. Their holes are four inches apart and there is no stud where I want to hand them. I hung a couple other photos, too.
I hooked up my little television to the cable in the bedroom. I can get the basic channels on it. I had moved the big shelf I had there hiding the cable. I can get ION TV which carries David Jeremiah at 7am Sunday morning. I can watch while I'm getting ready for church.
I took my rocking chair out of the blue bedroom where it blocked the closet and put it in my computer room. The sun was shinning brightly in the window and I sat in the rocker and studied my Lay Reader material for tomorrow.

I went to the church and got my materials. I read through them when I got home. It was another nice day. It was 72 degrees this afternoon and is now still 61. It is wonderful to not have to put on Danny's coat. I will be glad when I can wear my sandals and not have to bother with putting on and taking off my shoes or boots.
My stomach felt upset just before dinner. I ran out to get some ice as I haven't had my ice maker fixed yet and I was totally out. When my stomach is upset, I like to drink Coca Cola with ice. I figured I'd go to the nearest place which is the Wine and Spirit Store. I couldn't believe it was closed; it was 6pm on a Friday night. Maybe it's out of business or only open in the summer. Anyway, the Valero station is right next to it and has a convenience store. I got the ice there and headed back home. A sign at the store said, "Deli, Steaks, and breakfast sandwiches." I felt like my stomach was going to turn over at the thought.
I put the ice in the freezer and reached for a glass. I could smell stink bug in my kitchen. I put on another light and it was on the floor. I must have scared it when I was putting the ice away. The smell did not go well with my stomach. I got my rubber gloves and my coffee can of water, put the bug in it and closed the lid. I finally got my coke with ice and retired to the sofa. It did the trick and I felt much better. I was able to eat some dinner.
I want to study my Lay Reader materials before turning in.

I went to exercise class this morning. My sore throat seems to have disappeared. Maybe it was from an allergy. As I drove past the marina, I noticed the ice was completely melted. It had been frozen over most of the winter. I was surprised it melted so quickly. It did get up to 60 today and it is still a warm 53 degrees.
I was exhausted from exercise class. It was canceled for most of the winter because of the bad weather. I don't remember doing much. I went out to the shed and retrieved some boxes to put my wreaths in. I had to make sure they didn't have any stink bugs in them before I brought them into the house. There was a dead one on the bottom of the box but none inside. I should have got to work cleaning that shed because it's going to rain tomorrow. I'll have to do it the next warm day.
I went to my class at church tonight. It was about the history of the Methodist Church and the history of the Chesapeake City Methodist Charge. The Pastor included the Missions here in the county that all the Churches participate in as well as the Worship Services, Sunday School, Fellowship, and youth programs.
After the class, Pastor Amy went over what I will be doing on Sunday as Lay Reader. It is rather like being the Toastmaster at a Toastmaster's meeting. I will be conducting the service except for the Prayer of Confession and the Sermon. When I got home, I found that I left all my notes and materials at the church. I will have to get them in the morning. I better get there by 9am so the secretary will know who they belong to and not toss them aside or out.

I scanned in some photos of the dog I had when I was a kid. We got him when I was 8 years old and he died when I was 22 so I had him most of my childhood and beyond. He was a great companion. He followed us around everywhere.
Not much to report today. I did some computer work and laundry. It was cold in the morning but warmed up to near 60 in the afternoon. Most of the snow is gone. Some places are quite muddy. I stepped in some soft mud while walking the dog. I found some remnants of snow to wipe off my boots.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
I still had my sore throat when I woke up but it went away during the day. I felt it a couple times so I don't think it is over. I didn't go to exercise class because I didn't want to spread my germs around. I took it easy all day except for when I walked Danny. I had some chicken soup for lunch but had Swedish meatballs for dinner. I have lots more chicken soup if this sore throat develops into a full fledged cold. I am coughing a little. Well see. I haven't had a cold for five years so I guess I'm due.
I called my friend, Barbara tonight. She from the Baptist Church in Vineland. Her husband had passed away a couple weeks ago. I just found out so gave her a call. Her husband had Alzheimer's so his passing was a Blessing. He hadn't recognized Barbara for five or six years. It has to been horrible for the family to go through a loved one having Alzheimer's.
I hope I can do the lay reading on Sunday and I hope I can make it to my church membership class on Thursday. Colds seem to take a long time coming when I get them. I hope that is not the case. I hate to back out the first time I am scheduled to do the reading.

Today is the 75th anniversary of my parents anniversary. They were my special Valentines. Ted was my very special Valentine. I miss them.
It was a nice day today. It got up near 60 degrees but then the wind kicked up and now it is 44. I guess that's warm compared to last week's 13 degrees. I wore a jacket instead of my long wool coat. I still needed boots because it is muddy. Danny wore his sweater this morning instead of his winter coat and this afternoon and evening he didn't need his coat or sweater. The wind is still whipping around out there.
I unpacked more boxes today. The computer room is looking good but I still have to clean out the shed and rid it of stink bugs so I can put my plastic containers of Christmas decorations back out there.
There are still some boxes of things from our business that I have to go through and lots of shredding to do.
After I clean out the shed, I'll get to work on the blue bedroom. I have empty boxes piled in there. I want to take them to my aunt as she will need them when she moves.
I feel like I am getting a sore throat. I haven't had a cold for years. I hope it goes away by morning. I hate colds. My brother has been down with a cold but I only talked to him on the phone. I guess something is going around. My friend, Sue's husband called her from his job in North Jersey complaining about stomach pain. He drives a truck and feels like he's coming down with stomach virus. That must not be much fun being away from home.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
After church, I got my coffee at fellowship and took it to the table with the cream and sugar. When I reached for the stirrer, the fringe from my scarf dipped into my coffee cup. I grabbed a napkin and wiped it off. I tried reaching for the stirrer again this time my shoulder bag fell off my shoulder crashed onto the table and splashed the coffee into my face, coat, scarf, table and floor. John from the church, helped me clean up the mess. As I sat in Sunday School, I could smell the coffee on my clothes. Poor John, he's the one who helped me when my car was stuck in the snow. He just lost his job so keep him in your prayers.
After I walked Danny Boy, I had some lunch and then went to Walmart to get some groceries. It was mobbed. I wondered if a blizzard was coming and I didn't know about it. Fortunately, they had about 20 registers open so I didn't have to wait long in line.
I called my brother this morning and talked to Ted's mother this evening.
I didn't hear from my niece so I didn't go out to dinner. Maybe they had a Valentine's Dinner.
I have pictures of Ted and I at our Valentine's Dinner at the Nazarene Church in Vineland. The had a lot of nice activities like that before the church split and many of our friends went different ways.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Another cold day. One hates to go out. It went up to 40 but it was windy.
I unpacked a couple more boxes. One had our trophies in it and the other had photos in it. Most of the trophies are Ted's. They are Toastmaster awards and awards for running in races. I have some for softball and running and a plaque from the Red Cross.
I found the vase I was looking for. It was sitting right on the shelf in the open. I saw it when I was placing a photo on the shelf. I put the red roses in the vase and put it in the center of the kitchen table.
My cousin's daughter, Erin, called me tonight. She came to visit Aunt Jean last summer and we got to meet her. She is a sweet lovely girl. She is so happy to have connected with her father's relatives and we are very happy she did. My uncle moved away and we didn't get to see much of my cousin. He was only 3 years old when Grandmom died so he didn't get to know his cousins. We always had family dinners at Grandmom's and that all changed after she was gone.
Erin is planning on coming up this summer so I hope to get more of the family together for her to meet. She is in contact with a lot of the cousins on Facebook.

One of Ted's photos taken in January of 2006. The flower for February is the violet.
I fixed my cordless handset that wasn't working. I got enough information from the girl yesterday that I figured out what to do. I unplugged it's base, sat it on the main base and pressed find until it beeped. That seems to have cured its problem.
I found one of the things I was looking for and some other things that I didn't know were missing. I am still missing the vase that my sister-in-law, Sylvia gave me. I am also missing a green turtleneck. It's not in the closet and it's not in the wash. It must be in a drawer somewhere hiding under something.
I caught a few more stink bugs today. They seem to come out when I'm about to eat. When they fall into my can of soapy water, they turn upside down and squirt their stink into the air. It's so unappatizing.
It was cold this morning but warmed up this afternoon near 50. It felt good. I didn't have to put Danny's coat on. It went back into the 20's tonight. I had to put his coat on when I took him out at 8:00. Warmer weather is on the way but it won't be as warm here as it will be in the in the midwest. Looks like another storm will pass to the north of us.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
The power went out last night around midnight. I was awakened by the sound of the surge protector beeping. I figured it would come back on soon but it was out until 6:30am. I several times during the night. It was really dark. No street lights, no night lights, no clocks or phones glowing. No heat although it was 63 degrees so the house didn't cool down to where I had set it on 60. This was at 3am. I went out and turned off the water so the pipes wouldn't freeze. I had started snowing when I went to bed so I didn't know how much snow was on the ground. I thought if it got too cold, I may not be able to get to my niece or nephew's house. I also have only one flashlight that is working. I need batteries for two of them. One I changed the batteries; it either needs a bulb or it just doesn't work. My big flashlight I don't know if it is the battery or bulb. It takes a 6 volt battery. I haven't gotten out to the store to get batteries. I found that my portable radio works better than the ones that I plug in. I learned that the roads were treacherous and there were accidents all over the area. Utilities poles were taken out so the power was out all over the Delmarva Peninsula. It was cold today. It is 17 according to the computer but my thermometer usually reads colder.
I tried calling to have one of my handsets for the cordless phone fixed. I had to keep running back and forth from one room to the other. I was using the regular phone in the computer room and the cordless main base unit was in the kitchen. She said to call back on my cell. There was a 10 minute wait when I called and that will be charged to my minutes. What a bummer. I'll try again tomorrow or next week.
I went to my class at the Methodist Church. There were three other people in the class besides me and the Pastor and the lead lay leader. The Pastor gave us a lot of reading material to read over the next three weeks. I may take me longer to read it all. She said she will be giving us more.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
It was down to 13 degrees this morning. I didn't get much done. I was on the phone trying to schedule some routine medical tests but I need to call the lab I used for the dexa bone scan back in the year 2000 and have them forward the records. The other one is from last year and I need to have them forward that. It left Vineland so quickly, I didn't get any of my records. Medicare won't pay unless they have the records. Good Grief!
I packed up some more plastic containers for the shed today. The computer room is shaping up nicely but the kitchen is stacked with plastic containers. It's been too cold to work out in the shed. I also got my Turbo Tax installed and ready to enter my data. I'll have to file in two states this year plus the federal.
I found the manual and receipt for my cordless phone set. It was in my pile of paid bills. I also found my weekly pill box. I have been taking these pills for so long they have become routine and sometimes I don't know if I have taken it or not.
I will be going to classes to become a member of the Chesapeake City Methodist Church. I thought I might need my Baptismal Certificate so I looked in my important papers and it's not there. Everything else is. I do have my membership certificate for the Presbyterian Church and you can't be a member unless you are Baptised. Maybe that will suffice. I even have my certificate for graduating from the Nursery Dept. from Sunday School. Maybe the Baptismal Certificate is in my Bible that I got from Sunday School.
Classes start tomorrow night. I hope we miss that storm as the weather man said we will. They have known to be wrong. The storm will hit the south so I hope it stays there. I want to go to my exercise class in the morning.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
I haven't blogged in a couple days. Sunday, I went out to dinner with my niece and husband. We went to our usual Japanese Hibachi Grill. I had mostly stir fried veggies. I read where we are supposed to be getting nine servings of fruits and veggies. When I got home, talked to Ted's parents and then I watched a movie that ran until 11:00 so I went directly to bed.
Yesterday morning, I saw a man walking past my kitchen windows. I looked out and saw a hose dragging by so knew it was the gas man. I was having my coffee in the livingroom when this terrible smell was in the air. My sinuses were blocked so I wasn't sure what I was smelling. I got Danny and my purse and got out the door. My next door neighbor, Christine was coming back from taking her children to the school bus so I told her I had a funny smell in my trailer so she came in and sniffed. She thought it might be propane. So we got out and I called the gas company. The lady on the phone told me to turn off the gas valve. Christine and I took a look and I turned it off. She took me and Danny into her house while I waited for the gas co. The man came and checked everything out. There were no leaks and he turned the gas back on and made sure my appliances were working. He said before filling the tanks he has to bleed the lines and the fumes must have gotten into the house. The high humidity kept the fumes lingering in the air.
Even though everything was all right, I was exhausted for the rest to the day. I fell asleep in the afternoon and crawled into bed early last night.
This morning, I took Danny out I wasn't sure whether I would go to exercise class or not. The sun came out so I headed over to the church. Nobody else showed up. Linda, the secretary, called to me and said no one else was coming. I needed to go to the post office for some stamps so my trip was not waisted.
I unpacked more boxes the last couple days. I need to pack up the rest of the Christmas stuff. I have some things in this computer room that need wrapping up and put in the plastic containers for placement in the shed. The snow is continuing to melt. It was 38 degrees earlier but the cold north wind is blowing in and the temp will steadily drop to 16 degrees tonight. The wind chill is supposed to be minus five tomorrow.
I better get to work.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Another grey day. It was above freezing though so we had a lot of melting going on. We're starting to see some bare ground. There was a very fine mist all day. It wasn't quite rain, it was almost like fog.
I screwed the drawer rail onto the kitchen drawer. I had it just sitting there but it needed to be screwed in. One rail was missing. The same thing in the bathroom; although, I did find that rail. I don't know how it would become missing. The one in the kitchen also has a piece of the cabinetry missing. It's the piece that goes between the two drawers. I'm not sure how I'm going to fix that; maybe with some goop.
I am still going through stuff. I tossed some magazines that had the date of 2005. I fixed a curtain in the blue bedroom. I caught a couple more stink bugs. I spotted one hiding on my plant in the kitchen. They are probably eating my plants.
Here comes Danny. He was sleeping on the bed but he got up to take a look at me in the computer room. He is still on the bed, down at the bottom so he can keep an eye on me. It's as though he is calling me to come to bed.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
I slept late today. I didn't get much done. I sewed the zipper in my down coat and did some other sewing. I was on the computer for awhile and scanned in some more photos that my cousin sent. Two were of my mother as a child, one was of her brother and the other is a mystery photo.
Another ice storm is on the way. We'll see what it amounts to in the morning.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
I didn't go to exercise class today. I didn't get Danny out until late and I hadn't eaten yet. When I thought of how cold that building is I thought forget it. The last time I went, no one was there. I hope no one was there today. I wouldn't want someone else to show up and no one be there.
It was bath day for Danny. He doesn't like getting a bath but he hops right into the shower when I call him. I got an extra long shower hose so I can hose him down. After the bath, he gets the blow dryer. He seems to like it. He likes to be dry.
I called Ted's parents today to see if they were safe from the blizzard. On the weather channel, a big area of snow with 1 to 2 feet accumulation streaked across from Chicago to Buffalo. They are doing well and the sun is shining there today.
I'm having fun trying to figure out who it is in the photo. My aunt who is Uncle Bud's wife agrees with me that there are features that are Bud's and there are features that are not. The eyes and mouth look like my grandfather but he had dark curly hair. He may have had lighter hair when he was a boy. My brother had blond straight hair until he was twelve. Then it turen dark and curly. My cousin Scott who looks like the man in the photo had light hair when he was a boy and it has turned darker over the years. My cousin, Alan's wife thought it looks like Alan and Scott. I am still waiting to hear from my uncle and my mother's cousin to see if they know who it is. They may have been too young to know.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Yippee! No shadow for the groundhog. A lot of melting went on today. The big storm went north of us. There was a little mist but it was above freezing. The heating consultant came today. My furnace is in good working order. He looked at all the vents and recommended some be closed and some open. It did feel warmer in the front today but the sun was shinning in the windows. He said the bathroom vent didn't seem to be getting much air flow and what came out was cool. I'll run my sewer snake down there and see if there is a blockage. The air conditioning air flow is good but it may connect differently. There's no way of telling without ripping down the underlayment and insulation. I am thinking of putting electric heat under the floor in the bathroom. That will make the room warm. I'll have it on a thermostat and that should solve the problem.
My mother's cousin sent me some old photos that belonged to my Great Aunt. There were photos of my mother when she was a little girl and of her brother. Some photos I have no clue who they were. One was of me when I was a baby. Another was of my grandfather and I was amazed at how much my cousin Scott looks like him. It was good to see the old photos. I'm so glad Lorraine sent them to me.
Beautiful sunset tonight. Sailor's delight.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
Another grey day. My car was like a glazed donut this morning. I cleaned it off and went to see if we would have exercise class. The roads were clear but there were no cars at the church. I drove over the the heating and plumbing place and talked to them about my heating system. The consultant will come out tomorrow, weather permitting. It seems mobile homes have problems with heating. Most of my neighbors have problems. The first thing to do is check the furnace and see if the air flow is balanced. I don't think that's going to be very helpful but we'll see what the consultant has to say.
I lined up some things that need sewing and I pulled out the sewing desk and plugged in the machine and lamp. The lamp isn't working and I think I had changed the bulb but I'll have to test that out and if the bulb is OK then I'll have to take the lamp apart.
There is always something. The old gloves that I sewed need to be sewn again. My new gloves are falling apart and I haven't been able to get out to take them back. They are guaranteed by Isotoner but I have to pay five dollars for shipping. It doesn't seem right that I should have to pay for their poor quality.
