I got home around 11am. Everything was fine except for my dogwood tree. It was partially uprooted. They got 8 inches of rain here and the ground is very soft. The wind must have blown the tree over. I pushed it back up but I don't know if it wll be OK or not. I'll stake it for the winter. It's about 8 feet tall and is in the middle of the east yard.
I unpacked the car and put the things away. I did a couple loads of sheets and mattress covers that I use on the bed and soft because of Danny. His feet get dirty even though I wipe off his feet when he comes in.
Three neighbor kids came around looking for work. They wanted to pick up all the small branches that came down. Last week, they asked if they could rake the leaves when they came down. The hurricane blew a lot of leaves off the trees but it also blew them away. There are hardly any on the lawn. Of course, they are on the deck and steps.
I talked to my cousin, Joy. When I went to Don's church, someone asked for prayers for another of my cousins. Actually, it's my cousin's wife. Her sister passed away. They live near me. I'll have to give them a call and give them my sympathy. It is difficut to lose a loved one.
Cecil County postponed Halloween Trick or Treat before the storm came. It will be on Friday. It's a good thing because I didn't get any candy for the kids before I left. I'll have to go to the store tomorrow.

A light rain on and off today. Don went to work but came home. There was no power at his plant. Danny is feeling better today. He ate some lunch and he did his business when we went out. He had a couple good walks today. My neighbor called and left a message that all was OK at my mobile home. Lots of leaves down but no trees and no loss of power. I tried to call my friend, Joan, to find out about Choral Practice tonight. I wasn't able to get through. Lines must be down on her road. I called another friend and she said it had been cancelled. I was glad that I didn't have to rush back and go to practice. I wanted to stay another night to make sure the road dept had a chance to clean up.
I typed up the notes my mother had made on her trip out west. I tried to type them exactly as she had written them. She just jotted down notes. Perhaps she was going to rewrite them later but if she did, I haven't found them.

It's been a rainy, windy day. Don went to work but came home around 2pm. The interstates, turnpikes and bridges are closed. Public transportation shut down midnight last night. The storm hasn't been bad here but Danny wants no part of going out. He used the fence post at the bottom of the steps. He doesn't like rain. Tonight, I don't see much rain but the wind is gusting. I had to carry Danny out but he just stood there a couple minutes and headed back into the house. I hope he doesn't have to go out in the middle of the night.
Things look bad at the Jersey Shore. Lots of flooding and beach erosion. Lots of power outages in NJ but not here. I hope this is all we have to go through.
I found my mother's log of her trip with my dad to Wyoming. It was interesting to read. I'm glad they got to go on that trip. I plan to type it into my computer. I wish I could have gone with them but I had graduated high school and had to go to work. What a bummer.

It was rainy when I took Danny out. He used the fence post at the bottom of the steps and ran back into the house. Don and I went to the Acme Supermarket for some last minute groceries. Surprisingly, it was well stocked. It was about 7am. The Home Depot had a lot of cars in the lot. People trying to get generators at the last minute.
The leaves were falling on the Don's flat roof so he got out the ladder to clear the drain before the hurricane hit. The rain had stopped. I helped Don with the ladder and when he was done, I got ready for church. It is the church I grew up in. A lady greeted me and asked if I were new here. I said, "No, I grew up in this church, my mother was Ruth Orrell." Many members of the church knew my parents.
I took Danny out after church and saw some of the neigbhors. I talked with Sylvia Hunsberger and two men who owned the garage across the street. I asked if I could park my car in front of their garage so it wouldn't be under the trees in the high wind.
Rain was on and off during the day. I got some sandwiches at WaWa for lunch.
We stayed in the rest of the day and watch movies and football along with the weather. I read my book and it made me sleepy.

Finished battening down the hatches. Went to the county building for early voting. Long line.
everyone was afraid we would not be able to get out with the monster storm coming. Left there and went to Don's. He took care of Danny while I went to my class reunion. I saw several people that I went around with in school. Was good to see them. I will be staying with Don to ride out the storm. I brought some extra food, can goods and so forth. Also extra batteries, portable radio, books, cards and Chinese Checkers. Power could be out for weeks. Don has city water so that should be no problem. Also natural gas so we can cook. Way past my bedtime.

Danny was still having digestive problems this morning so I made an appointment with the Vet. With the "Franenstorm" coming, I wanted to get some medicine in case I wasn't able to get out after the storm hits.
I went to the church to help with folding the newsletter. I stopped in JoJo's to get a tuna hoagie for lunch and dinner. The sandwich is big enough for two meals. After lunch, I put some more things in the shed and got some of my clothes ready.
I took Danny to the Vet and they did some bloodwork and when I mentioned he was scooting his bottom along the ground, she cleaned his glands. They had just been done when he had his nails done but I guess his intestinal infection made them fill up. He has lost some weight. I guess from his chicken and rice diet. I need to put some vegetable oil in it. I have olive oil, I wonder if that's OK? I'll have to get some. I just read where rice has arsnic in it especially the brown rice and may be bad for dogs. That's just great! I may give him some oatmeal instead. He likes oatmeal. He was chipper after the vet was done with him but he is laying around now. He didn't even bother to get off the sofa to eat his dinner. It may be the antibiotic making him sleepy. I seem to remember that when he was on it before.

I went to exercise class this morning. I was exhausted because Danny kept needing to go out in the middle of the night. I heard him jump off the bed so I got up and he had run to the door. He had diareahea. (not sure of the spelling) He seemed to be OK in the morning. I went to Jack and Helen's with my friends after exercise. I got the pancakes. They make really good pancakes. They are almost like crepes.
I started to batten down the hatches for the monster storm, Sandy, that is most like to hit Delmarva and that's where I live. I put the lawn furniture in the shed and picked up anything that could fly in the wind. I am concerned about the trees around my house so I will be going to my brother's on Saturday. I have my class reunion Sat. night so I might as well stay there and ride out the storm.
I went to the fellowship dinner at the church, and then my Bible study class, and then choir practice. I was beat.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
I slept until 6 this morning. Danny woke me up when he jumped back into bed. I should have gotten up when I woke at 5 because that little turkey doesn't wake me up if he has to go out. I had to clean up his mess.
I did some yard work this morning. I cut down the tomato plants and got the baskets cleaned up. I did some wash and hung it out on the line. It was supposed to go to 77 but only got to about 74. The sun just does not get over the trees to shine on my clothesline. The leaves are still on the trees. The silver maples are starting to fall but the oak trees are not. It will be another month before they come down.
I went to Bible Study this morning. It is always good to meet with my friends and study God's Word. We studied John 14:23-39. I took some paperwork to my neighbor who needs some financial help. Another neighbor was taking a 100 lb propane tank to get her some fuel. People are having a rough time in this economy.
I took my clothes down around 4pm and they were not quite dry so I put them in the dryer for 20 minutes. At least I didn't have to run the dryer for an hour or more.
Time to get some rest.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
I got home in the early afternoon and rested the rest of the day until I had to go to Choral Practice. I didn't know how I was going to make it but the rest did me good and I had a good practice.

I have been away. Don and I participated in the Lighthouse Challenge of New Jersey. We climbed up and down every lighthouse in New Jersey from Sandy Hook near NY City to Cape May and around to the Delaware Bay. We did it in two days which is what they allow. Saturday, we started up at Sandy Hook and got down to the Ocean City Life-Saving Station. We skipped Atlantic City as it closed at 9PM and Ocean City closed at 6pm. We got to AC at dusk and climbed up the 217 steps to await the light coming on at 6:45. It was quite dark by then. I will post the pictures later. Sunday, we started with the range lights of the Delaware River and then to East Point LH on the Delaware Bay near where I lived in Vineland. Then we headed to Cape May Court House Museum and the Life Saving Station in Stone Harbor. Then on over to Hereford Inlet Light in North Wildwood. We ended the Challenge in Cape May Point Lighthouse with a climb of 199 steps. We received a gold seal in our book and a conk shell painted with the lighthouse symbol by a volunteer of the lighthouse. We had dinner at the Lobster House on the bay in Cape May. I got the broiled scallops and Don got the Crab Imperial. I ate it all. I must have climbed up an appetite. It was a beautiful weekend as far as the weather was concerned. A real Indian Summer.

I did some wash this morning and hung it out on the line. I went to the bank. I got some plates out of the shed to put my house plants on but when I went to wash them, the water had been turned off. They were doing some work on the filtering system. I hope they did something to remove the iron.
My friend, Dottie, came late this afternoon and we went to JoJo's for the early bird special dinner. I got the meat loaf and Dottie got the tilapia. Two vegetables came with it. We had a nice time visiting with each other. I'll be seeing her next Wednesday. Her church is having a luncheon.

I got up early and drove to Don's so I could go to the doctor with him. When I got there, Danny had thrown up all over the back seat. Luckily, I had put an old mattress pad on the back seat to keep him warn as the car was cold. The chicken sold at the supermarket, is injected with broth. The broth may contain onion or garlic. You can't tell what they put in our food these days.
It has been a year since Don had his surgery. He had a good check up but needs to have a follow-up colonoscopy next Tuesday. I will be going back to take him. I'll go on Monday so I won't have to drive in the horrible rush hour traffic. It was horrendous on the Interstate.
I had lunch with Don and then came home to rest up again. My ear is still bothering me. It feels like it has water in it.

I went to exercise class this morning and then to JoJo's afterward. I got a hugh chocolate chip cookie and a cup of coffee. I had breakfast earlier so I wasn't hungry for breakfast. I was tired out afterward so rested the rest of the day.
Images of Fall. My scarecrow is falling apart. I thought it was probably made in China. I looked at the tag and sure enough, it was made in China.
I got up early, took Danny out and then went to Elkton to get my bloodwork done. It was a rainy miserable day. I still wasn't feeling up to par so I lazed around all day. Danny kept wanting to go out and then would sit in the grass in the drizzle. I would yank him back in and he would sit by the door so I would take him out and repeat this several times. I don't know what his problem was. He sat in the kitchen near the door. He finally settled down after dinner.

I didn't go to church this morning. I am still recovering from my head cold. I didn't want to spread the germs around and I didn't feel up to singing in the choir. I am feeling better. My sore throat is gone but my sinuses and ears are still stuffed up.
I don't have any photos of churches on this computer so I won't be able to post a Steeplechaser.
I'll have to take some more photos of churches or upgrade my software on this computer so I can pull in my photos from Photoshop. I'll have to visit some new area to get photos of churches I haven't taken already.
I ironed the summer clothes that have been waiting to be ironed. I had some shorts and short sleeve blouses that needed to be ironed and put away. I had been putting off ironing them as I have been waring my jeans and long sleeve shirts and blouses. Now I have them to iron.
I made stuffed portabella mushrooms for lunch and dinner. For lunch, I stuffed it with tomatoes, bread cubes that were left over from the tea sandwiches, mushroom pieces from the stem, and cheese. For dinner, I stuffed it with turkey, stuffing, tomatoes, mushroom pieces, and cheese. The mushroom wash almost as big as the dinner plate.
My house stays in the shade most of the day now that the sun is lower in the sky. The tall trees surround the house. The sun doesn't get around until 4:30 in the afternoon. By then, it's almost time for it to set.

I woke up with a sore throat and sinus and ears stuffed up. I wasn't feeling well enough to go to CCEA tea. I had a difficult time contacting someone to let them know. I guess people are like me and keep their cell phones in their purses and don't hear them ringing. I finally got through to some people I knew were going so they could give the message that I couldn't be there. I was the speaker for the event and I felt bad letting them down but I didn't want to stand up there sneezing and coughing.l
John brought me some more mushrooms. I stayed on the sofa with my blanket most of the day except when I took Danny out. He wanted to go for a long walk. I tried putting him on his lead but he just sits there staring at the door. He wants me to go out with him. One spoiled little dog.
It was cold this morning; 28 degrees. A little frost on the pumpkin and the roof tops. It was time for the coat, hat, boots and gloves. I put Danny's coat on him. I can't seem to find his sweater. I know it's around here somewhere but not where I thought it was. It will turn up sooner or later.
News from the Vorlon Wife.
This little blue morning glory started growing in September. It was there last year but I didn't think it was there this year. It turned out to be a late bloomer. They are calling for frost toningt so that will be it for this pretty little flower. I was surprised when I saw it was 35 degrees this morning. I put on my winter coat and I put Danny's winter coat on him when I took him out.
I had to wash and hose down my house plants and get them in. I should have done it sooner but have had a lot on my plate. Now I have a cold and have to give a talk at the Ecumentical Assoc. Tea tomorrow. I hope I will be able to do it.
I made a plate of chicken salad tea sandiwiches for the tea. I washed my hands good and used latex gloves and a surical mask so I would get germs on the food. This is a real bummer. Tina is counting on me to give the talk.
The tea will be held at St. Roses's church on the north side of the canal in Chesapeake City. Eileen said she would help me with my computer problems. She is very active in the Ecumentical Assoc.
I had to pick my tomatoes this afternoon. My neighbor likes fried green tomatoes so I gave her a bag of them. I feel like I have been on the go all day. I had intended to rest. Perhaps now I can get some rest.

I did some laundry and got it out on the line early this morning. I went to exercise class and then to Redner's Supermarket. I needed a few things. I got some chicken breast to make my chicken salad sandwiches. I also got some Arnold's Whole Wheat bread to make them with.
After lunch, I cut the grass and was exhausted for the rest of the day. The grass was long, wet, and heavy. I tried to take a nap on the sofa but a certain little dog jumped up on me and started licking my face. I put him out on the deck with his lead but he just sat there looking at the door. I had to take him for a walk. He don't like being out there by himself, he wants me to go out with him. So much for my nap.
I went to the fellowship dinner at the church. Jeannie was sick so her granddaughter, Jaimie made the dinner. She made scalloped potatoes with ham and stringbeans, Italian bread and butter and ice cream for dessert. She did an excellent job. She is only 15 or 16 years old.
I went to my small group class and then to choir practice. There were a lot of high notes and now my throat feels scratchie. I hope I;m not getting a sore throat.

I went to Bible Study this morning and then planted my little Aberta Spruce trees this afternoon. Cheryl and Ed invited me to dinner. Ed cooked a turkey dinner. We enjoyed it.

I made pea soup in the crockpot the first thing this morning. I thought I put a ham bone from the freezer into the soup. It turned out to be a pork bone.
I did some wash and then I went to exercise class. After class, we went to JoJo's for breakfast. I got the scrambled eggs, bacon, homefries, and toast for $3.99. The have good food at a good price. Dinners are $6.99 for the early bird special.
Another cold, rainy, miserable day. The heater has been running for the past two days. It's been so dark and gloomy that my solar landscaping lights are not going on.
The pea soup hit the spot on this miserable day.
I went to Choral practice tonight. It seems to always rain on Tuesday when we have practice.

A cold miserable, rainy day. I was working on my desktop computer when I got a message that windows had a problem and needed to shut down. I clicked on it and poof! The computer got little blocks of colored balls all over it. I must have gotten a virus but I didn't open any emails. I deleted most of them. Now, it's back to the shop with it. I think it's been there more than it's been here.
I did some fall cleaning in the master bedroom. The rest of the house is done. I still have some more to do in the master suite.
I went to my Finance Committee Meeting tonight. It was a productive meeting. We went over the budget for next year. It lasted a little longer than an hour but there was a lot to go over.

I went to Church and Sunday School this morning. It is a rainy day. I staightened up a little and put the chicken and sweet potatoes in the oven and Danny's rice in the rice maker.
I watch the ending of "Murder She Wrote" (the one I fell asleep with) and another one to finish the episodes on that DVD. Next week, I'll try the next volume of episodes.
I hear the oven dinging so I better go take care of my food. My niece and her family went out to dinner last night so I don't think they will be going out tonight.

I went to my genealogy seminar in Elkton this morning, came home for lunch, walked Danny and went back to the seminar. I learned a lot of new things but my computer fired up and when I realized I'd have to use the battery, I turned it off. When I tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't turn on.
I looked around the historical society for awhile and then went on home. I stopped in Redner's supermarket to get a few things then came home, took Danny out and then Juan came to work on the plumbing in the laundry room. It took him awhile and it was getting near dinner time. He took a brake as he needed to get another part. The access door he bought was too small. I had some dinner and took Danny out again. Juan came back and finished the job. I really appreciate him doing it as it was Saturday and dinner time that he could have spent with his family.
I watch a couple episodes of "Murder She Wrote" on the third DVD the library got for me. The other two were defective. I fell asleep just before the one show ended and of course didn't see who did it. With the DVD, I can go back and finish it tomorrow.

Wax plant begonias growing in the back yard along the edge of the woods. I got them in late so they did not grow very big plus, it was very dry back there. You wouldn't think so with the stream not far from them. I guess the trees sucked up all the moisture. I watered but it was 100 degrees during July.
I didn't get much done today. I washed some clothes and noticed a mildew smell. I checked all around and found the spigot where the washer hose connects was leaking down the wall. I went to to see if Juan was available. He came and took a look to see what it needed. He tightened things up but had to go to work. He would get the parts and repair it when he got back.
Meanwhile, I updated my laptop. It had been turned off for awhile so I had to update the antivirus software. It took a while to upload and then scan it for viruses.
I ran around catching a lot of stink bugs. I try to catch as many as possible. I figure, one less to go around breeding thousands more.
I picked my ripe tomatoes and then sprayed the plants and trimmed what was hanging over the sidewalk. I put on long sleeves and wore rubber gloves. I washed with Naptha soap when I got done. I didn't want to take any chances of getting another rash.
Danny wanted to stay outside today. He spent most of his time on the deck. I bring him in when he starts barking. He likes to look out at the people walking by and the birds flocking up.
Juan didn't get back until 5pm. I needed to give Danny a bath but didn't want to do it until I heard from Juan. I didn't want to have to turn off the water in the middle of bathing him. Anyway, Juan had to take his son somewhere. I don't know if the boy plays soccer or something. He said he come tomorrow but I will be out all day at the Genealogy Seminar. I will come home at lunchtime to let Danny out and then go back. I should be home at 4:30 so Juan said he would come then.
After dinner, I gave Danny his bath. He doesn't seem to mind. He hops right in when I open the shower door. I hose him down, lather him up, rinse him off, apply the detangler, and rinse him again. I can't wait to get out. I dry him a little before opening the door. Then he jumps out and rubs his face on the towels I have on the floor for him. I dry him off as good as I can and then let him out of the bathroom. I hops on the bed that I have covered with towels and rubs his face some more. I use the hair dryer on him and get him as dry as possible. He plays with his toy while I dry him. He is a funny little dog.

I went to exercise class this morning and then to JoJo's hotdog place with my friends. I got the french toast. I had to bring half of it home because I had eaten before I went. It was good and the ladies got omlets, and bacon. They said the dinners were good, too. A nice dinner for $6.50. Sounds good to me.
I next went to do some shopping in Elkton. I went to K-Mart, Peebles, Payless, Dollar Tree Deals, and the Acme. In the evening, I went to the fellowship dinner. Jeannie had chicken salad sandwiches and chicken noodle soup. Jamie made red velvet cake for dessert. I went to the small group class and then choir practice.

I went to my Bible Study this morning and afterward, took some canned dog food that Danny cannot eat to the Eastern Shore Animal League. This afternoon, dug out my family history as I had no idea where I had put it. I am going to genealogy seminar on Saturday so I wanted to get my information prepared. I have a few ancestors I would like to find information on.
I did some research on the English High Tea as I have been asked to speak on that topic at our Eccumentical Association Tea on Sat. Oct 13. It is a new idea by my friend, Tina for a fundraiser. The group includes all the churches in our community who have come together to help poor families in our community. We have a food bank, share a rotating homeless shelter, provide after school help for children, have a combined Bible School for the children and help in other ways.
I also studied my music for the Choral Society. We got out CD with the music on it. My main CD player is not working. The one in my bedroom won't play it as the CD is a higher tech than my player. I have in the past ripped it onto my computer but for some reason, this time every other song is garbled. I'll have to try again. I am able to play it on my little CD player in the yellow bedroom that I thought my cousin had broken. She used it and for some reason it stopped working. Good thing I didn't trash it as it seems to be playing all right now. It will also play in my car but I can't read the sheet musice as it plays. I can just listen and try to sing along. When I get to know it better, I will be able to sing along better. At least listening will get me familiar with the music.

Feeling better this morning but not quite up to par. I went to the church, the bank and then to the Brantwood garage to get a windshield wiper and hoped I could get there before it rained. I made it and felt better as I have to go out tonight and it's supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow. You used to be able to buy the blade but they don't sell them anymore. You have to buy the whole arm and it costs much more. What a bummer. Plus the fact that I could easily change the blade but I couldn't get the arm off and have to pay the mechanic to do it. Another bummer!
I next went to the new Eastern Shore Animal League. The have a Vetranarian Service plus boarding and kennel services. Danny is terrifed when I take him to the Vet in Middletown and when I used their Kennel services, the lady said he didn't wag his tale the whole time he was there. He must have thought I took him to that horrible place and abandoned him. He was so happy to see me when I picked him up. I figured maybe if I took him to a new place, which is right here in CC, he wouldn't associate it with going to the vet. When I take him to Middletown, he knows where we a going the minuted I turn down the road that leads to the vet.
I guess I will be ironing this afternoon and then will go to Choral Society practice tonight.
