Today would have been our 45th Anniversary. We had 35 wonderful years together.
This is a photo of my mother's cousin's husband, Dewey. It was probably taken in the 1930's at my great aunt and uncle's farm in Landenberg, PA. The family went there every summer holiday until Aunt Fanny died. I believe 6 generations of the family had been there at one time or another. We now refer to ourselves at the "Small Family". My grandmother's maiden name was Small. She had 5 sisters and 3 brothers. They all came with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also, their parents and great uncle.
I got a couple projects done today. I primed and painted the patch in the drywall in the laundry room. The electrician had to cut a hole in the wall to replace the wiring from the switch to the outdoor light. It buzzed when I turned on the light. He replaced the switch but that didn't fix the problem. I got a new fixture and some new wire and another new switch. He replaced everything. The wire was only 2 feet long but it had been stapled to the 2x4. Anyway, it's all fixed now. Just have to wait for the paint to dry to put everything back in place.
The temp says 90 degrees out there. Sparky is on the deck. The awning is out but I guess he is basking in the warmth. I will take him for a walk around the yard as it's too hot to take him around the block. We can do that this evening when it cools off.
I also got a couple dozen daffodils planted. Some had dug them up and thew them out on the road. I don't know if they'll bloom next year because the leaves may not have stored up enough energy. They will bloom the following year though.

My Peony is blooming. The weather has been cool and rainy. The flowers are lasting longer this year. The peony has just started and the irises are lining the walk. The weeds are growing wild. Is hard to keep up with the grass cutting because of all the wet weather.
Tomorrow, I go to Don's and then we are going in a run/walk to support my cousin's Brain Injury Foundation. It will be good to see all my cousins. With our parents gone, we don't see each other enough.

Yesterday, I went to the church thinking I only had a few things to do and would be done quickly. Wrong. I was there all morning. I had planned to go to the home depot but wasn't able to. When I got home, I walked Sparky and got some lunch. Then I was too tired to go to the store.
I will be going back to the church this morning to get some more things done. But even if I get finished early, it is raining and I don't won't to get the mulch when it is wet and raining.

Mother's Day, 1952
Moma, Grandmom, and Uncle Bud. I love the hats and corsages. I looked around in church and no one had corsages. It used to be a custom to buy mother's a corsage. Moma would send me on the bus to Darby to get the corsages at the florist in the bus terminal. The church would give out carnations; a white one if your mother was deceased and a pink one if your mother was living. My church here gives our carnations but all one color. Past years, they have been white with red centers. This year they were all pink. I guess traditions have been forgotten but the memories haven't. I remember taking this photo with my Kodak Brownie Camera that I had gotten for Christmas.

This was taken 2 years ago but is blooming now and a little bigger. I had to remover the vine from the fence as the center post need replacing. I am training it to cover up the old satellite dish that I never used. The company never removes them. It has been a gloomy week, with rain, mist, clouds and cold. Sparky and I got soaked this morning. I tried to tell him he didn't really want to go out but he insisted.

It's Throw-back-Thursday. Here we have Ted, Grandfather Cutler, Kathy, Grandmother Cutler and Tom. Also with dog, Jack.
Today, I am going with my friend, Alice to her doctor in Belair, MD and this evening, I will be singing with my church friends at the National Day of Prayer. Due to the lousy weather, it will be held at Trinity UMC. It is an ecumenical event and was scheduled for outdoors in the park.

My azaleas and irises are blooming. It was rainy today but the sun has come out in the late afternoon. The weatherman never seems to get it right.

Chesapeake City Ecumenical Association Gala
The CCEA held a fundraising Gala April 2nd. The theme was Blast From the Past with music from the 50's and 60's. We were decked out in our poodle skirts. Some dressed as hippies and some were elegantly dressed in the style our mother's wore with lovely dresses, hats and gloves. We were doing the Cha-Cha in this photo.
